It was nothing like when she was with him, with all her hackles raised, looking ready to start a war at any second.
Jorrod didn't look away for a second, just staring blankly, his deep eyes gradually darkening.
As for Sienna, she had a reason for not wanting Jorrod to make a sound.
This cousin was a good person. Back in the day, he took great care of the younger siblings, always taking the blame whenever anyone made a mistake.
However, he was just a bit too responsible, like a strict guardian who did everything by the book.
Especially since her dad had given Julian a heads-up when he arrived, telling him to report back if she had any romantic prospects. This time, he wanted to screen his daughter's boyfriend early on.
Keeping Jorrod a secret... wouldn't end well.
And this time, it was nothing serious. Julian was just telling her that he had rented an apartment near AstroTech Solutions, which was convenient for commuting. Plus, the landlord turned out to be the parents of his college classmate, giving him a great deal.
It was good news. Sienna listened, smiling and congratulating him on the coincidence.
Julian then brought up what happened at dinner the other day. He had some urgent work and used the laptop he had with him for about ten minutes.
When he needed it now, he realized the USB drive he had pulled out at the table was missing.
"I asked the restaurant, and they said the cameras didn't show anything left on the table. Did you happen to see it, Sienna?"
Sienna frowned and genuinely thought about it.
She did remember the USB drive.
But as for where it went, she couldn't quite recall.
"Could it have been mistakenly put in your bag?"
Sienna opened her mouth, about to say she would check her bag in a bit.
Suddenly, she heard the slide of the door opening, startling her and making her forget what she was going to say. In her peripheral vision, a tall figure stepped in, and she widened her eyes, turning to look.
Jorrod had taken off his coat and was only wearing a thin black sweater underneath. The tailored fit highlighted his coiled muscles, making him look like a silently approaching wolf.
Sienna froze for a moment.
Sienna turned her face away, dodging the man's warm palm. However, she couldn't escape. Jorrod braced his other arm against the counter, completely trapping her against his chest.
She glared at him, leaned sideways, and spoke into the phone, "Thanks for the reminder. It might actually be in my bag. I'll go look for it as soon as we hang up."
Listening to her, Jorrod half-lowered his eyelids and tugged at the corner of his lips, almost laughing out of sheer anger.
First, he wasn't Julian.
Now, the name Jorrod had nothing to do with him either.
Jorrod didn't hear what was said on the phone.
Under his gaze, Sienna turned sideways to him.
He lowered his eyes, his line of sight landing right on her neck. Her collar had two buttons undone, the pale green color contrasting beautifully with her luminous skin.
And so, just as she opened her mouth to say something else, Jorrod suddenly arched his back, lowered his head, brushed his nose against her cheek, parted his lips, and gently sucked on her neck.
