I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 256

Sienna remained silent while Rowena Yates pulled out her phone and tapped the screen a few times.

"By the way, Sienna," Rowena said, sending over a file. "I have a project here that's nearing the finish line. When you have some free time over the next few days, take a look and tweak it based on your own creative vision."

Sienna opened the file. It wasn't just a trivial one-page PDF like the tasks she'd handled earlier; it was a full, official project folder.

She looked up in shock. "Me?"

Her surprise was warranted. A new hire typically wouldn't touch a core company project at this stage.

Rowena understood her hesitation. She smiled and patted Sienna's shoulder. "Don't feel pressured. I just want to see your interpretation and ideas. If your fresh perspective sparks something new, that's a win for us."

Sienna's shock lasted only a second. Glancing at the screen, she nodded and accepted the task.

Rowena watched her fondly.

In the past, she'd constantly heard Nathaniel Yale sing praises about Sienna, elevating her to the heavens.

Rowena had already developed a favorable impression of her through those stories. Now that Sienna was officially in her department, a protective instinct naturally kicked in.

She was approachable, beautiful, and completely devoid of arrogance. She never complained about complex tasks or tried to shirk her duties. No wonder Janice York adored her so much.

Silas Lester was a highly perceptive man.

Over the past few days, he had noticed that something was seriously off with Jorrod Vaughn.

The first clue was his mouth.

Initially, when Silas saw the dark scab from a bite mark on Jorrod's lip, he almost assumed he had reconciled with Sienna.

After all, aside from Sienna, he couldn't imagine anyone else on earth daring to bite the man's mouth.

But as he continued to observe, he quickly discarded that theory.

Jorrod radiated a suffocating wave of despair. He was working like a lunatic, pulling all-nighters from dawn to dusk. That kind of self-sacrificing dedication to the job completely lacked the glow of a man in love.

In fact, he looked even more devastated than when they had first broken up.

Realizing it was pointless to argue with a workaholic, Silas leaned against the edge of the desk, his gaze dropping to the hands flying across the keyboard.

He remembered seeing a multitude of small, everyday scratches on the back of Jorrod's hands after his time at Sienna's place.

Most of those had healed by now.

But a long, jagged cut across the webbing of his hand caught Silas's attention.

It wasn't a shallow wound, and Silas vividly remembered it had been there for days. Yet, it still looked inflamed and angry.

"I remember that cut happening a while ago. It hasn't healed yet?"

Jorrod's phone rang right on cue, cutting Silas off.

When the call ended, Jorrod dove right back into the spreadsheets. During those ten minutes of silence, Silas's mind wandered until a new realization finally clicked into place.

"Wait... you're not acting like this because Sienna went on a blind date, are you?"
