Sienna sighed. "Never mind, I'll first—"
"Then we'll do as you wish," Jorrod said calmly, raising his eyes and cutting off her words.
Sienna hadn't expected it to go this smoothly. Her eyes lit up. "Then when do I move?"
"Move?" His gaze dropped to her face, a slight frown touching his brow.
"Move my desk," Sienna clarified. "Since you've agreed, I shouldn't stay in my old spot. It'll be inconvenient once things get busy. The sooner I move over and adapt to the new workflow, the better."
Jorrod stared at her face, holding the silence for two beats. "Then next week."
Next week? If she got dragged into a new project before then, it would be much harder to cleanly extract herself.
Reflected in Jorrod's eyes, the woman's brows drew together like a soft veil of mist. She chewed on her bottom lip, clearly dissatisfied with the timeline.
He amended his answer. "Tomorrow?"
Sienna remained silent.
"Tonight, then."
"Okay." Sienna nodded firmly. "Tonight works."
It was perfect timing—she could move her things after hours without disturbing her colleagues.
She thanked him, turned on her heel, and prepared to leave. The man reached out, his large, warm hand wrapping firmly around her wrist. The sudden force halted her in her tracks, and she looked back in surprise.
Jorrod lowered his eyelashes, his gaze resting on her face as he spoke in a measured tone. "Come to my car after work. I have something for you."
Sienna was confused. "Why don't you just give it to me now?"
Jorrod declined. "It's in the car. We'll talk when you get there."
Sienna didn't think much of it. She vaguely sensed that with the ice finally breaking between them, Jorrod had probably realized the error of his ways and was finally going to return her phone to its rightful owner.
She nodded.
Taking one step toward the door, she paused and threw a look over her shoulder. "Oh, by the way, don't grab my wrist like that in the future."
The person most thrilled about the transfer was Director Yates.
She hadn't even left after clocking out, staying behind to personally help Sienna move her belongings alongside a few Administrative Department colleagues.
There wasn't much to move—just enough to warrant one quick trip.
Once everything was unpacked, Sienna kept her promise and headed down to find Jorrod in his car.
The underground parking garage was dimly lit and eerily quiet.
Jorrod's car wasn't parked in the general employee section. The sleek black Maybach sat isolated in a remote corner, flanked by empty space and a stark yellow line separating it from the rest of the lot.
From Sienna's angle, she could see the interior lights were on, casting a muted glow through the tinted windows.
By that light, she could faintly make out a broad silhouette in the driver's seat.
She jogged over, stopped by the driver's side door, leaned down, and tapped her knuckles lightly against the half-open window. "I'm here. Can you hand it over now?"
