Archer stood at the island, holding a chef's knife, prepping a premium cut of Wagyu beef.
He wasn't wearing his usual immaculate tailored suits or dress shirts today. Instead, he had changed into dark gray loungewear.
The short sleeves revealed the distinct, muscular lines of his forearms.
His movements were graceful, radiating an inherent, aristocratic elegance.
"Archer," Virginia called out.
Archer didn't stop his prep work, merely turning his head to look at her. "Hungry?" he asked, his voice deep.
"No." Virginia tossed the blanket aside and walked over, standing on the opposite side of the island. "Clem arrived in LA. You can clearly see how she feels about Xavier. She's asking me for his address."
Archer set the knife down, grabbed a towel to wipe his hands, and turned to face her, his dark eyes entirely calm.
"Xavier's whereabouts are practically a corporate secret," he said, his tone casual but carrying a hint of business negotiation. "You think you can just casually ask and take it from me?"
Virginia raised an eyebrow.
"Then what do you want?"
Archer leaned forward, instantly closing the distance between them.
The crisp scent of ebony wood and bergamot, mingled with a faint trace of body wash, drifted over. It smelled incredibly intoxicating.
"Beg me," he said softly, letting the two words slip from his lips.
Virginia's expression didn't change. She offered a faint smile and turned to leave. "Never mind, then. With Clem's resources, digging up someone's location shouldn't be an issue."
She had barely taken a step when she heard a rustle behind her. A second later, a large, warm hand clamped around her wrist.
With a slight tug, Archer pulled her back.
Caught off guard, Virginia crashed directly into his broad chest.
Virginia lowered her gaze, her thick eyelashes casting soft shadows over her skin.
"Archer, I need time."
Her voice was very quiet, but incredibly clear.
His eyes darkened. The large hand resting on her waist tightened for a fraction of a second before slowly letting go.
"Okay." He took a half-step back, instantly returning to his untouchable, collected demeanor. "I'll wait for you."
Virginia didn't say anything else. She turned and walked back to the sofa.
Picking up her phone, she forwarded the address to Clementine.
As she typed, she hesitated for a moment, ultimately deleting the sentence, "Xavier has someone in his heart."
Outsiders had no place meddling in matters of the heart.
