His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 368

Madeline had relentlessly weaponized the life-saving debt against him, leaving him no choice but to agree.

He was dressed in a dark, textured shirt, substituting his tie with a sharp collar pin.

The oppressive heat outside hadn't left a single trace on him. He still carried that untouchable, aristocratic aura, but upon closer inspection, heavy fatigue lined his features.

"Archer." Wild joy flickered in Chloe's eyes, though she maintained a timid facade, even shrinking back slightly into the blankets.

Archer stopped two steps away from the bed. "What's wrong?"

Chloe reached out, aiming to tug at his shirt, but he seamlessly dodged her grasp.

Her hand hung frozen in midair. She bit her lower lip, looking deeply wronged.

"It's just... I keep having nightmares," she whimpered tearfully. "Archer, will Virginia be angry that you came to see me today? If I ruin your relationship, I'd rather just die..."

Looking up at him, tears sliding down her cheeks, she pleaded, "I promise, once I'm cured, I'll go far away and never bother you again. Please believe me, okay?"

Archer stared down at her, his dark eyes entirely devoid of emotion.

He only felt profoundly exhausted.

Refusing to indulge the topic, he said flatly, "Just focus on your treatment. Don't overthink anything else."

Turning to Madeline, he added, "I have a transnational conference call. Since Chloe is stabilized, I'll be leaving."

Without missing a beat, he spun on his heel and strode out of the room.

The door clicked shut.

Madeline looked at the closed door, then down at Chloe's humiliated, tear-streaked face. A wave of utter helplessness washed over her.

"Chloe," she said, sitting on the edge of the bed and taking her daughter's hand.
