HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 976

A moment later, a small handgun appeared in his hand. He didn't point it at anyone, nor did he raise it as a threat.

With a movement so calm it was almost unsettling, Brandon placed it on the table, then slowly slid it forward until it came to a stop directly in front of Don Falcony. The black metal spun once before coming to rest beside the gold-engraved urn. The sight was both strange and horrifying.

An urn and a handgun lay side by side on the family dining table.

"What do you mean by this?" Don Falcony asked, his eyes now filled with caution.

Brandon raised his gaze. "If you want to avenge your eldest son's death," his voice remained calm, almost flat, "use that gun."

The room instantly froze.

Lady Falcony shook her head over and over. "No... no..."

"I was the one who pulled the trigger," Brandon said.

The words he had just spoken left everyone in the dining room staring at him in utter disbelief.

Lady Falcony's legs gave way beneath her, forcing her to grip the back of her chair for support. Tears streamed down her face. She wanted to scold Brandon for saying something so cruel, but deep down, she knew her son. Brandon was not someone who lied. And that was exactly why his confession was so much more terrifying.

Don Falcony remained standing. His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. In all the decades he had spent building the Falcony family, never once had he imagined he would hear one son confess to killing his own brother.

"Why?" he asked quietly.

That single word carried far more weight than his earlier outburst.

Those words lingered in the air for a long time.

Brandon wasn't threatening anyone. He was simply stating the reality he had witnessed with his own eyes. He knew how the Devereux family responded when one of their own was harmed. He knew the Miller family would stand at the very front.

He also knew that Cale would never allow Naomi to die without holding someone accountable.

"That isn't a war anyone could win," Brandon continued quietly. "And Falcon was the one who opened its gates."

Silence settled over the dining room once again. This time, it wasn't because of anger, but because everyone was beginning to realize that whatever had truly happened in Carrington Bay... it had gone far beyond a conflict between two brothers. This was the consequence of a decision that had dragged the Falcony family to the brink of ruin.

No one dared break the oppressive silence. Don Falcony was still standing where he was, but his posture was no longer as firm as it had been a few minutes earlier. Both of his hands began to tremble. Not solely from anger, but because his heart refused to accept the reality being forced before him.
