His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 195

The living room floor was slick with blood. The strong, capable men he had hired were all lying in pools of it, their bodies covered in wounds.

The killer had been brutal, every cut fatal. This was the work of a professional, someone who could easily overpower the men he'd hired.

Upstairs, Serena’s room was neat and orderly, with no signs of a struggle.

Conrad had security pull the surveillance footage. The video showed Serena bringing a pot of soup to the bodyguards. After they drank it, they all collapsed, unconscious. Then, the footage cut out.

The system wasn't broken; the killer had wanted him to see only this much.

Serena had drugged her own guards. It meant she had left willingly. She hadn't been ambushed.

Just then, Nolan called. As soon as Conrad answered, Nolan’s frantic voice filled his ear. “Mr. Beryl, it’s terrible. Ms. Sargent was arrested this morning.”

Conrad’s breath caught in his throat, a sharp pain lancing his temple. “What happened?”

“Lana just called me, crying. She said she couldn't get through to you. She said the police took Ms. Sargent away.”

“For what?”

“Murder. The police are saying Ms. Sargent killed Serena.”

It was true. After Serena’s death, Lydia had disappeared without a trace, as if she had evaporated into thin air. The police couldn’t find her anywhere.

After listening to Charles’s analysis, Conrad’s expression grew even colder. He gave Nolan a chilling order. “Find Lydia. I don't care if she's dead or alive, just find her.”

His phone rang. He glanced down and saw ‘Estelle’ flashing on the screen. A flicker of annoyance crossed his face as he answered. “What is it?”

“Conrad, you loved Serena once,” Estelle pleaded. “Her body… was awful. She’s about to be cremated. She deserves to have you see her one last time.”

Conrad closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He hung up the phone and rushed to the crematorium.
