She found Nyssa sitting elegantly in the living room, with Elian hovering anxiously nearby.
Nyssa immediately stood up, flashing a soft, repentant smile. "Good morning. I behaved irrationally yesterday, and I came to officially apologize."
"You already apologized at the station," Ottilie replied coolly. "I received the settlement money."
Nyssa stepped closer, gently taking both of her hands.
"When they issued the critical alert for my brother yesterday, I just completely lost my mind. I didn't mean to lash out at you. Please, can you find it in your heart to forgive me?"
"I already forgave you yesterday." Ottilie smoothly pulled her hands free.
Nyssa's face lit up with a brilliant smile. She grabbed an ornate gift box from the coffee table and offered it to Ottilie.
"Please accept this as my formal apology. If you truly forgive me, you can't say no."
Ottilie flipped the lid open to find a heavy, solid gold bracelet resting on the velvet.
In their obscenely wealthy circles, nobody flaunted raw, uncrafted gold like some walking price tag.
Giving someone pure gold was a blatant, passive-aggressive insult, implying the recipient lacked class or refinement.
To them, an unsophisticated country girl like her was only fit for gaudy trinkets.
But Ottilie genuinely didn't care. She actually liked it.
"Thank you. I happily accept."
Nyssa linked her arm through Ottilie's, glancing triumphantly up toward the second floor.
"Yorath, look! She forgave me!"
Ottilie followed her gaze and saw Yorath and Jevon standing at the top of the stairs.
"Haven't had breakfast yet, right?" Jevon called down. "Let's all eat together."
"Perfect. Since you don't have a chef right now, I'll handle the cooking," Nyssa offered sweetly.
With that, she gracefully rolled up her designer sleeves and headed straight for the kitchen.
Elian quickly hurried after her to act as her sous-chef.
Jevon sauntered down the stairs and threw a warning glare at Ottilie. "You better watch your step. Do you have any idea how much Nyssa is worth? If she so much as breaks a nail around you, her rabid fans will literally tear you limb from limb."
Yorath walked straight up to her, his eyes locking onto the gold bracelet in her hand, but he said nothing.
"Yorath, I'm genuinely not holding a grudge against her," Ottilie said lightly.
She was the untouchable sweetheart, the absolute center of their universe.
