He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 72

In the past, Ottilie's favorite thing had been introducing Yorath to her friends.

Once, she had needed his help with a lawsuit.

She had gone to his law firm.

And she'd overheard Jevon Crawford and the others talking.

*Ottilie really thinks she's someone special, name-dropping Yorath left and right to score favors.*

*Now every random nobody is showing up at our firm.*

*Does she think we're running a charity?*

*Poor people are exhausting. When is Yorath going to get bored and finally dump that liability?*

Coming back to the present, Ottilie said, "Yorath, I didn't want to cause you any trouble."

"You claim to have feelings for me, yet you're making promises to your Mr. Walden," Yorath sneered. "Just how many hearts do you have, Ottilie?"

Ottilie looked at him with complete sincerity. "Yorath, I don't have feelings for you."

A humorless smirk crossed his lips. "You were the one who came onto me first."

Ottilie froze for a second.

"Oh? I'm sorry, I honestly don't remember."

Her time at St. Dymphna's Psychiatric Facility, heavily medicated, had left her with severe side effects.

Sometimes her hormones were so out of whack she'd skip periods for half a year.

Her memory was a jumbled mess.

Yorath's expression darkened terrifyingly.

Ottilie could only offer an apologetic smile. "Yorath, I've forgotten a lot of things from the past."

For the rest of the drive, Yorath didn't utter a single word.

As they stepped through the front door, Ottilie said, "I'll pay rent, Yorath. Whenever you need me to move out, just give me the word, and I'll pack up immediately."

Standing in the entryway, Yorath looked absolutely murderous.

"You can stay here forever."

Ottilie glanced back with a faint smile but said nothing.

Before her work schedule was finalized, Ottilie had nothing to do while staying at his place, so she took on the daily chore of waking up early to cook.

It was her way of working off her rent.

The next morning, Yorath and Jevon came downstairs.

Ottilie called out, "Yorath, breakfast is ready. Eat before you head to work."
