Nyssa offered a shy, demure smile. "You're flattering me! That makes me so happy. Honestly, I didn't know anything when I first started; you were the one who taught me how to act. Now that you're back, we can team up as the perfect sister duo and make a fortune together."
"I don't have such grand ambitions," Ottilie replied dryly. "I just want to coast by and live an easy life." She felt completely exhausted trying to keep up this charade.
The two people sitting opposite her were flawless, impenetrable actors.
Her own performance felt amateurish in comparison; she really needed to step up her game.
"Well, your health comes first," Nyssa insisted. "Just focus on resting for now. With me around, no one in the industry will dare bully you."
Having delivered her sugary lines, Nyssa stood up and turned back to Yorath. "Yorath, I brought Kendrick Walden along. Since Ottilie doesn't have anyone reliable by her side yet, I was thinking Kendrick could manage her. That way, I know she's in good hands."
"Kendrick has been your agent for years; he should stay with you," Yorath replied smoothly. "I've already arranged a dedicated agent for her."
Nyssa let out an exaggerated gasp. "Really? Who is it? Which top-tier manager did you hire?"
"Soren."
"Wow! Yorath truly spoils you! Giving you someone as capable as Soren? I'm honestly a little jealous."
Nyssa was beautiful, elegant, and an absolute master of conversation. Her playful pouting was designed so no one could ever find her annoying.
Back in the day, Ottilie had been completely taken in by this exact sugar-coated facade, which made it criminally easy for Nyssa to backstab her.
"If you like him so much, Ms. Tarrant, you can have him. I don't mind."
Nyssa waved her hands dismissively. "I couldn't possibly! We're practically sisters; I would never steal from you. Whatever is meant to be shared, we'll share."
That last sentence was loaded with subtle venom.
Ottilie gave her a tight, knowing smile. "I've never had any interest in other people's belongings, and I certainly don't share what's mine."
Nyssa laughed, a breezy, ringing sound. "Right, right, my mistake! Anyway, I have to get back to set for an afternoon shoot, so I'll leave you to rest. But if you don't mind, I need to borrow Yorath for a moment to discuss some business."
