"It's our fault for not raising him right," James pleaded. "Please, Mr. Fordham, for Ottilie's sake, spare Shawn just this once. I swear it will never happen again."
Jevon stepped up, flanked by two imposing bodyguards, a nasty smile playing on his lips. "Your promises don't mean shit. Hold him down. He's drinking these three bottles today whether he wants to or not."
The bodyguards instantly restrained Shawn.
Jevon grabbed one of the bottles, marched over, and forced Shawn's jaw open, tipping the liquid straight into his mouth.
Shawn screamed in terror, "Mom! Dad! Save me!"
James treasured his son more than his own life. Terrified that the boy was going to die right in front of him, his legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees before Yorath.
"Mr. Fordham, if you let my son go, I'll give Ottilie to you."
"She's already mine. I don't need you to 'give' her to me." Yorath elegantly picked up his own glass and took a slow sip.
He sat there looking lazy, yet he exuded the lethal danger of a predator ready to strike.
Shawn had already been forced to choke down half a bottle. He shrieked in panic, "Dad, I'm going to die if I drink any more! I don't want to die! Help me!"
Tears streamed down Marie's face like a broken string of pearls. She rushed over and collapsed to her knees beside her husband.
"Mr. Fordham, we know we were wrong. Please, please let our son go. If you spare him, you can have our lives."
Yorath chuckled darkly. "What would I do with your lives? Sign this instead."
A legal assistant stepped forward from the shadows, placing a document in front of the elderly couple.
"The law doesn't formally recognize the severing of biological ties," Yorath explained coldly. "However, the two hundred thousand dollars I previously transferred to you can serve as a one-time, comprehensive settlement for your retirement. Sign this non-disclosure and settlement agreement. From this day forward, whether you live or die, you have absolutely nothing to do with Ottilie Sewell."
The couple hesitated.
Desperate to save his own skin, Shawn screamed, "Sign it! Hurry up and sign! She's just a worthless liability anyway, what do you need her for?"
