He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 24

Before the kidnapper could finish, Yorath spoke up. "An hour isn't enough time."

Sensing a breakthrough, the kidnapper asked, "How long?"

"Wait until everyone wakes up. Tomorrow morning, by eight."

"Spit! You think I'm an idiot? By eight o'clock, the cops will have dug up my ancestors dating back eighteen generations. Two-thirty. If I can't buy a ticket to that movie by two-thirty AM, she's dead."

The kidnapper hung up.

Yorath was already fully dressed, standing in the middle of his living room.

Jevon was there in his bathrobe, surrounded by a team of technical specialists and police officers.

"We've traced the location. It's a forty-minute drive from here."

At 1:40 AM.

With their demands made, the kidnappers relaxed and began looking Ottilie up and down.

She was a petite thing, huddled against the wall, looking entirely helpless yet effortlessly captivating.

Still, in their eyes, she was nothing compared to their goddess, Nyssa.

"Boys, this one really is gorgeous. She and Nyssa are at the same agency. If she stays around, she'll steal all of Nyssa's resources. Just look at this time—the movie was right on the verge of coming out, and Mr. Fordham pulled the plug. It's all her fault."

One of the men hesitated. "We just want the movie to be released. We can't actually kill anyone."

"We don't need to kill her. We'll just ruin her face. That way, she'll never set foot in the entertainment industry again, and Nyssa can finally have peace of mind."

The men exchanged glances, identical, sinister smiles spreading across their faces.

They slowly closed in, forming a tight circle around Ottilie.

The harsh overhead lights flickered, stinging Ottilie's eyes.

Her mind violently snapped back to the hospital bed at St. Dymphna's Psychiatric Facility. The fluorescent lights above had been just as blinding.

A doctor's head had blocked the glare, then moved, letting the flickering light stab her eyes again.

*"Ottilie, you're mentally ill. You need medication and injections."*

*"I'm not sick! Get away from me!"*

*"You are sick. Hit her with the sedative."*

And then, later...

*"Ottilie, your condition has improved. You don't need medication or injections anymore."*

*"I am sick. I need my medicine and injections."*
