Before Stella could even process what was happening, Jarrod swung his long leg out and delivered a brutal kick squarely into the man's stomach.

Caught completely off guard, the man collapsed onto the marble floor, curling into a tight ball as a pained, guttural groan tore from his throat.

Seeing Jarrod, the woman's red-rimmed eyes instantly welled with fresh tears. She looked desperate to throw herself into his arms for protection, but catching herself at the last second, she fought down the urge.

Instead, she stood there weeping quietly, frantically trying to smooth down her disheveled hair and fix her ruined clothes.

Stella finally got a clear look at her face. It was Yvette.

They had just formally met at the hospital the other day.

Stella had never expected their next encounter to be in the middle of a public brawl.

The man on the floor had finally recovered enough breath to speak. Groaning, he dragged himself up and pointed a trembling finger at Jarrod, ready to unleash a string of obscenities. "You sick son of a—"

But halfway through, a look of horrifying realization washed over the man's face. Recognizing exactly who had just kicked him, he violently swallowed the rest of his insult.

Clutching his bruised ribs, he resorted to a pathetic attempt at posturing. "So what if you're a Fuller? I'm her husband! This is a domestic dispute, you have no right to put your hands on me!"

Jarrod completely ignored his existence, turning his sharp gaze onto Yvette. "What happened?"

Yvette's eyes were bloodshot, and she clearly had a thousand grievances she wanted to air, but she simply shook her head. "It's nothing, Jarrod. Just a silly argument."

Her husband, instantly emboldened by her submission, barked, "You hear that?! You think you own Royal Oaks, but stay out of our marriage! Back off and mind your own business..."

Jarrod shifted his freezing glare toward the man. The absolute murder in his eyes silenced the husband instantly. Swallowing hard, the man grabbed Yvette's arm. "Let's go!"

Yvette threw a fragile, pleading look at Jarrod, then noticed Stella standing a few feet away. Humiliation washed over her face as she lowered her eyes, turning to leave with her abusive husband.

Jarrod reached out and blocked her path. "You're hurt. Go see a doctor."

Turning his lethal gaze toward the restaurant manager, who had just rushed over, Jarrod ordered coldly, "Someone is assaulting a woman in your lobby and causing a scene. Why haven't you thrown him out?"
