He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 888

Without another word, Helena turned and walked toward her car.

Sebastian stood frozen, his hands balling into tight fists inside his pockets.

Given the tension, he knew better than to force the issue.

As Helena drove off, Sebastian got into his own car.

He tailed her closely through the city.

When a few bold reporters tried to follow, Sebastian's bodyguards swiftly cut them off.

Helena didn't speed. She calmly made a U-turn and headed straight for her Riverton office.

Even though IGM was wrapping up its operations, the office was still accessible.

She refused to entertain any ambiguity with Sebastian, which meant bringing him back to her apartment was completely out of the question.

Seeing her route, Sebastian immediately knew where they were headed.

Thirty minutes later, both cars pulled into the underground parking garage of her building.

They stepped out simultaneously, the heavy silence stretching between them.

They walked side-by-side toward the elevators without exchanging a single word.

Once the doors slid shut, Sebastian turned his gaze to her.

Helena ignored him completely, staring blankly at the tips of her shoes.

But underneath her calm exterior, that familiar, suffocating tension was creeping back in.

"Helena, even when we aren't sleeping together, does just being near me make you this tense?" Sebastian suddenly asked, his voice low.

Helena finally looked up at him. "Yes."

Sebastian went completely still.

But he didn't look away.

Helena met his stare with freezing indifference. "So do us both a favor and keep your distance."

Just as she finished speaking, the elevator doors pinged open.

Helena stepped out instantly.

Sebastian reached out, wanting to grab her wrist, but his hand froze in midair.
