He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 887

The sedative hit Janetta's system instantly, and she slumped to the ground.

Right there, on the cold floor of the detention center, her corneas were extracted.

Because they were Helena's original tissue, removing them rendered them entirely useless.

The transplant specialist efficiently packed them away as medical waste.

Janetta remained unconscious, a crumpled heap on the floor.

The doctor turned to Helena. "It's done, Ms. Wallace. As you requested, she has been left with only the faintest perception of light. The sedative should wear off in about ten minutes."

Helena nodded. "Thank you for your help."

"Not at all," he replied smoothly. "What would you like me to do with these?"

"Dispose of them," Helena said indifferently.

The doctor nodded, asking no further questions.

He gathered his equipment and followed Helena out of the room.

The officers waiting in the hallway looked visibly relieved to see her, though they were still clearly on edge.

"Ms. Wallace..." one of them greeted tentatively.

"She's fine, don't worry. She'll wake up in ten minutes. From here, just proceed with standard legal protocol. Treat her as you would any other inmate," Helena said calmly.

The collective exhale from the officers was audible.

They had been terrified Helena would actually kill Janetta inside the cell.

This case was already a media circus.

If a murder happened under their watch, they would be the ones facing the fallout.

Not Helena.

After a polite nod of thanks, Helena turned and headed toward the exit.

As she rounded the corner, she stopped short.

Sebastian was standing in the corridor, waiting for her.

Their eyes met, the tension instantly suffocating the space between them.

Neither of them said a word.

The doctor sensed the heavy atmosphere and cleared his throat awkwardly. "Ms. Wallace, I'll let you two speak. I'll take my leave."

Helena offered a curt nod.

The doctor quickly made his exit.
