Several times, Lance hesitated, wanting to ask about her and Sebastian.
But the words kept dying in his throat; he simply didn't know how to breach the topic.
"I'm at a hotel with him. I passed out from a fever, and he called a doctor. I'm fine now," Helena offered unprompted.
Listening to her, Lance let out a silent sigh.
"As long as you know what you're doing, Lena," he replied.
Helena gave a soft hum of agreement.
"We've already leaked the news about Janetta Ramirez. From here on out, we'll slowly drip-feed the evidence of her crimes to the public. Her upcoming role will naturally make everyone draw parallels to her orchestrating the murder of you and Skye all those years ago," Lance said, shifting the conversation back to business.
"Good," Helena replied.
"If Sebastian decides to intervene, things could get complicated," Lance warned.
Helena wasn't entirely sure.
Given his recent behavior, she strongly suspected that his feelings toward Janetta were a far cry from what they used to be.
But Sebastian hadn't completely abandoned Janetta, either.
Then there was what Sebastian had told her about Janetta's relationship with Kyle Hayes.
Helena furrowed her brow.
"By the way, there's something else I need you to look into," she said suddenly.
"Tell me," Lance agreed.
"Kyle isn't Janetta's biological son," Helena stated openly. "Sebastian told me himself, which means he's looked into it. I need you to dig up the entire truth behind this. In our circles, illegal surrogacy is a career-ending felony."
Her face was entirely devoid of emotion.
She had absolutely no intention of giving Janetta a chance to bounce back.
Murder was a crime, but that didn't mean she couldn't lock Janetta away for good.
Once she was behind bars, rotting in a cell, Janetta's chances of survival would drop to zero.
But the revelation caught even Lance off guard. "You're saying Kyle isn't Janetta's son?"
"Exactly." Helena briefly explained the situation to him.
Lance fell silent for a long time. "So you're planning to hold the truth about his birth until the very end, ensuring Janetta can never make a comeback?"
"Yes," she confirmed.
Unlike his usual swift compliance, Lance remained dead silent.
His silence deepened.
After resting for a moment, Helena looked down and started scrolling through her phone.
Predictably, Coralia Gossip was exploding again.
Neither she nor Sebastian had attended The Tech Export Gala.
Instead, the paparazzi had snapped photos of Sebastian making an abrupt U-turn at an intersection.
Helena was clearly visible in the passenger seat through the camera lenses.
The comment section was already a warzone of wild speculation.
Helena casually scrolled through the replies.
They were flooded with assumptions about her and Sebastian.
Coupled with vicious, targeted insults.
*“Shameless homewrecker!”*
*“Knowingly seducing a married man! Is the Coralia scene this chaotic?”*
