He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 806

"Take your time," Helena nodded.

The designer quickly stepped out.

Helena was left alone in the spacious fitting room.

Since it was an evening gown, she didn't require an army of staff to maneuver in it.

Furthermore, the boutique staff knew she preferred solitude and kept the room clear.

She studied her reflection in the full-length mirror.

Deep down, she was the same woman she had always been; only the face staring back at her had changed.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed.

It was a video call request from Skye.

Smiling, she answered it.

The screen immediately filled with the eager faces of Skye and Kyle.

The two kids had been arguing over something and, unable to reach a conclusion, decided to call her for the answer.

She listened patiently, coaxing them with gentle replies.

She was so engrossed that she didn't notice when Sebastian slipped into the room.

"Lena..." Skye trailed off, her eyes widening.

Because her back was turned, Helena hadn't sensed his approach.

But through the camera lens, Skye had a clear view of the man standing behind her.

Kyle saw him too, freezing in surprise.

Before Kyle could say a word, Skye abruptly scrambled to end the call.

"I have to go!" she blurted out.

Helena blinked in confusion as the screen went black.

The sudden hang-up caught her completely off guard.

A split second later, a firm, possessive grip clamped down on her waist.

Looking up into the mirror, she saw Sebastian pulling her flush against his chest.

They were pressed seamlessly together.

His broad, imposing frame completely enveloped her.

"What's taking so long?" he murmured.

The designer had left before zipping up the back of the dress.

It was a plunging backless design to begin with.

"You deliberately provoked me. Don't you think you owe me compensation?" he whispered against her skin.

He didn't give her a chance to answer.

The sheer audacity of his demand left her momentarily stunned.

"Sebastian..." she began, trying to push him away.

But his mouth crashed down on hers, swallowing her protests in a punishing, predatory kiss.

He backed her flush against the cold glass of the mirror.

She didn't dare struggle too hard, terrified the glass might shatter under his weight.

The noise would undoubtedly draw the staff inside.

Yet her hesitant resistance only made it look as though she were willingly yielding to him.

The perceived submission only fueled his dominance, making his hands bolder.

"Why are you pulling away?" he demanded roughly, staring down at her. "Isn't this what you wanted?"

The accusation was loaded with double meaning.

There was an unmistakable undercurrent of dark resentment in his tone.

She couldn't tell if his anger was directed entirely at her, or something else entirely.
