Inside the terminal.
After parking, Sebastian walked straight to the arrivals channel.
It would take some time for Kyle to come out.
Sebastian waited patiently near the exit.
His sharp gaze immediately picked out the hiding paparazzi, but he remained utterly impassive.
"Sebastian," Janetta approached with a radiant smile. "Sorry I'm late, the traffic was awful. Kyle's flight just landed, so it'll be a minute before he comes out. I just called the nanny."
Sebastian turned his attention to her.
Naturally, he also noticed the swarm of reporters trailing right behind her.
Loud and brazen.
He kept his face blank, showing zero emotional reaction to her words.
Janetta felt a spike of panic.
"Have you been waiting long?" she asked, desperately trying to force a conversation.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, she reached out and grasped his hand.
Sebastian merely glanced down before smoothly pulling his hand away.
It was a brutal, public dismissal.
Janetta's hand hovered awkwardly.
"Sebastian..." she murmured, her voice laced with manufactured hurt, a clear plea for him to play along.
He ignored her silent begging.
His gaze turned icy as it rested on her.
Yet, he said nothing.
Why had Janetta called the nanny instead of Kyle himself?
Because Kyle's feelings toward his mother were a tangled mess of avoidance and fear.
He rarely answered her calls.
In the beginning, the boy had tried so hard to please her, begging for a scrap of her attention.
But she had constantly ignored him.
Now, even when she tried to play the doting mother, Kyle wanted nothing to do with her.
"Mr. Hayes, rumors say you've filed for divorce from Ms. Ramirez. Is that true?"
"Why didn't you arrive together to pick up your son? From your conversation, it sounds like you're living apart. Is that correct?"
"Are you officially separated? If she's filming in Coralia, why is she staying elsewhere while you're here?"
"Did you come to Coralia just for her?"
...
The Coralia paparazzi showed zero mercy, firing off one piercing question after another.
Janetta's face drained of color.
She forced a stiff smile at the cameras. "Everyone, you've misunderstood. Our marriage is perfectly fine. I'm busy filming, and Sebastian is here on a business trip. Due to the production's strict non-disclosure agreements, I obviously have to stay with the crew to avoid any liabilities. I can't afford to take that risk."
Having delivered her practiced lines, she shot a desperate look at Sebastian.
She was silently begging him to back her up.
He didn't utter a single syllable.
Almost instantly, his phone buzzed.
