Janetta dismissed the thought.
But a flicker of unease tugged at her chest.
Once the minivan came to a halt, she quickly stepped out and headed straight for the arrivals gate.
She made no attempt to hide, openly allowing the local press to snap their photos.
Her goal was to announce her presence to the world.
Back in the SUV, Helena closed the window with a faint, mocking smile.
She didn't linger; the vehicle drove smoothly away.
Sebastian's SUV was clearly off the paparazzi's radar.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have escaped so effortlessly.
After all, this was Coralia, not Riverton, and the media here weren't as familiar with him.
Only after they were safely away did Skye look over. "Are we not eating with Kyle anymore?"
"We'll wait for him at the restaurant," Helena replied.
"Okay. He hasn't texted me anyway," Skye pouted.
"There are too many reporters. It's a bit complicated," Helena explained simply.
Skye nodded obediently.
She didn't like the Coralia paparazzi either.
They had a nasty habit of shoving cameras right into people's faces.
Years ago, when Julian had taken her out, the press had pulled the exact same stunt.
They aggressively questioned if she was his illegitimate child.
Julian, never one to be crossed, punched the reporter on the spot and smashed his camera to pieces.
It was only after he blacklisted the man across the entire internet that the local tabloids learned to back off.
To this day, the memory still left Skye a little shaken.
"Oh, Kyle just messaged!" she chimed in.
"Tell him we'll wait at the restaurant," Helena said, glancing over.
"Got it." Skye nodded.
She sat obediently in her car seat, typing away to Kyle.
She quickly guided Skye upstairs.
Neither of them was particularly hungry, so they settled in with some tea.
Helena pulled out her phone and sent Sebastian a text.
Helena: [I'm here.]
She didn't need to send it, but she did it on purpose.
A calculated move.
She knew that by now, he would have inevitably run into Janetta.
With Janetta's crippling paranoia, even the slightest movement would send her imagination spiraling.
Heh.
After hitting send, Helena tossed her phone aside and ignored it.
She chatted happily with Skye, the atmosphere light and cozy.
It was a stark contrast to the suffocating tension back at the airport.
