In no time, he whipped up a lavish spread of three dishes and a soup.
Scarlett helped out by setting the silverware and bowls on the table, while Julian scooped the Matsutake Beef Risotto he had made into a children's plate and brought it out.
Seeing this, Zara rushed over to take it, ready to feed Dawn.
However, Dawn pointed a chubby little finger at Julian, pouting her small lips, and babbled in her baby voice,
"Daddy... Daddy..."
Scarlett could tell that Dawn wasn't particularly clingy with her, but she was incredibly attached to Julian.
No one had taught her to call him "Daddy," yet she just blurted it out so naturally.
At this, Julian's eyes crinkled into a massive smile. He opened his arms and took Dawn from Zara, his tone effortless.
"Dawn wants Daddy to feed her, is that right?"
Dawn wrapped her arms around Julian's neck and nodded obediently.
His voice grew even gentler.
"Alright, Daddy will feed you. Let's sit in your high chair, okay?"
Dawn couldn't say much yet, but she nodded again like a good girl, beaming at him.
Seeing this, Scarlett stepped forward and said softly,
"Julian, you've worked hard enough making dinner. Let me do it. You and Zara go ahead and eat."
But Dawn, as if she had her heart set solely on Julian, immediately waved her little hands, pouting as she cried out,
"No... want Daddy... Daddy..."
Looking at her daughter clinging to Julian for dear life, Scarlett couldn't even bring herself to be annoyed. She just smiled helplessly.
Zara stood to the side, watching the scene with a warm chuckle.
"Don't let her age fool you. She's a smart little cookie."
"If she wants someone specific to feed her, it has to be them, or she won't take a single bite. She was like this at home, too. Neither the madam nor I could do anything about it."
Julian smiled good-naturedly, took off his apron, and sat down. He scooped up a spoonful and held it near Dawn's mouth.
If it were Yardley, he could never do what Julian was doing.
He wouldn't step foot in a kitchen, let alone do something as trivial as feeding a toddler.
With Yardley's chauvinistic mindset, those were strictly a woman's duties.
Yet Julian came from a similar background to Yardley's. In fact, in terms of legacy, the Croft family was true old money, vastly more powerful than newly minted wealth like the Flynns.
But Julian possessed none of Yardley's toxic traits.
Instead, he handled these tasks so naturally, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
For a moment, Scarlett was completely mesmerized.
Julian, who was focused on feeding Dawn, caught Scarlett's gaze out of the corner of his eye.
He placed a piece of chicken on her plate, teasing her with a half-smile.
"Why are you staring at me so intently while I feed Dawn?"
"Don't tell me you want me to feed you, too?"
