He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 831

"Julian, you're incredibly handsome." Scarlett couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

This was truly the first time in her life she had ever praised a man to his face so bluntly.

She even finally understood why so many women got lost in the sheer good looks of certain celebrities, chasing after them with crazy infatuation.

Being that handsome was the ultimate calling card. He didn't even have to do anything; just standing there was enough to make a woman lose her mind.

"I'm alright. Just average." Julian suppressed a smile, his lips pressing together. Hearing her words, he couldn't resist reaching out, easily wrapping a long arm around her slender waist. His voice was husky. "Have you looked your fill?"

His smile held a hint of shyness, giving him an adorable, almost boyish charm, yet the lean muscle and intense masculine energy radiating from him proved he was very much a mature man.

These two completely different vibes merged seamlessly in him without feeling out of place.

Scarlett felt her body melting into a puddle under the weight of his raspy voice.

Her chest grew hot, her breathing hitched, and her rationality teetered on the edge once again.

Realizing she was losing her grip, Scarlett hastily averted her gaze, not daring to meet his burning eyes.

"Julian, stop messing around. Let me go."

"Are you sure? Well... alright."

Julian let out a low chuckle, the vibration in his chest transferring clearly to hers.

He turned his head slightly, his warm breath fanning across the side of her neck.

His lips were dangerously close to hers.

Scarlett's heart skipped another beat. She squeezed her eyes shut on instinct, her entire body stiffening like a board.

But the next second, Julian abruptly let go and whispered softly,

"It's almost time to eat. I'll go downstairs and make something for you and Dawn."

With that, Julian slipped his hand away from her waist, turned, and strode briskly out the door.

-

Down in the first-floor kitchen, Julian had already tied on an apron. He stood at the counter, a sharp chef's knife in hand, methodically prepping ingredients on the cutting board.

He was still wearing that white tank top, putting the sleek, toned lines of his forearms on full display.

The sunlight streaming through the window seemed to outline him in a faint golden halo.

Ever since Scarlett and Julian had moved in here, Julian had taken on the exhausting task of preparing all three meals a day.

It wasn't that Scarlett was lazy; Julian simply refused to let her anywhere near the stove.

Initially, Scarlett had found it hard to get used to, but after a few days, she adapted and even began to secretly enjoy it.

After all, nobody inherently loved toiling in a kitchen. If the circumstances allowed, everyone craved the feeling of being pampered and genuinely cared for.

Right now, the sight of Julian bustling around the kitchen stripped away any trace of the spoiled, rich heir he could have been. Instead, he looked remarkably grounded and domestic.
