He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 88

The hospital director stood nervously to the side. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw Dr. Vaughn return.

"Dr. Vaughn, what took you so long? Mrs. Saint has been waiting for you."

Alistair acted as if he didn't recognize Mrs. Saint. He walked to his desk and sat down. "How can I help you?"

Mrs. Saint's eyes locked onto his face, her heart twisting with a violent, ugly rage, though her expression remained impeccably polite. "I've heard a great deal about you, Dr. Vaughn. I'm here to formally invite you to join our team."

She smiled and slid a polished envelope across the desk.

The Saint Group was an absolute titan. Over the years, they had monopolized countless industries—from luxury malls and hospitals down to mobile apps and gaming. Alongside other elite families, they had co-founded a world-class private hospital. It was the preferred facility for high society, renowned for keeping billionaire secrets buried and offering staggering salaries. A-list celebrities flocked there as well.

Naturally, the medical bills were astronomical.

That hospital frequently poached the top talent in the industry, but never like this. Never with Mrs. Saint handling the recruitment personally.

Before Alistair had walked in, Mrs. Saint had already spoken with the director. The man had been practically bowing in reverence, completely blindsided by her personal visit.

He had handed over Alistair's personnel file, and upon hearing her promise to donate millions of dollars in new medical equipment to his hospital, he had been grinning ear to ear.

"Alistair, Mrs. Saint values your expertise immensely. Just look at the compensation package! Plus, they're offering a fast track to top-tier research fellowships abroad. This is the opportunity of a lifetime."

Alistair picked up the contract. The terms were exceptionally generous. From a career standpoint, it was flawless.

Mrs. Saint didn't miss a single flicker of emotion in his eyes. She asked casually, "To achieve so much at your age is remarkable. What do your parents do, Dr. Vaughn?"

"I was adopted, Mrs. Saint. I have no idea what my biological parents did for a living. I've never even seen their faces."
