He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 87

When daylight broke, the first thing Juniper did upon waking was update the studio group chat on her situation.

The entire team was instantly flooded with concern.

"Which hospital? We'll come see you."

"No need. Just focus on prepping for today's two livestreams. Is Jade okay?"

Someone in the chat tagged Jade.

Jade had spent the entire night in a state of sheer panic. She had been brought to the hospital as well, though her injuries were minor.

To distance herself from the mess she'd orchestrated, she requested a leave of absence in the group chat.

Ironically, she was in the exact same hospital as Juniper—Metropolis Central Hospital.

Juniper replied in the chat, "Glad to hear she's alright."

She didn't mention being abducted. She simply claimed that on her way to check on Jade last night, she had been involved in a minor traffic accident and injured her leg.

Seeing Juniper casually texting in the group chat ignited a flash of venomous hatred in Jade's eyes.

She must have lost her mind. One anonymous text had pushed her to commit a felony.

Taking a sharp breath, she glared at Juniper's messages, gritting her teeth.

Who else was to blame but Juniper?

Why couldn't Juniper just die?!

Juniper rested in bed until the afternoon, looking up as Alistair walked in carrying takeout. He set up the overbed table and carefully unpacked the containers. "I grabbed this from the hospital cafeteria. Take your time eating. I have another patient to check on."

Juniper nodded. "Thank you."

Almost instinctively, Alistair reached out and ruffled her hair.
