With her leg completely trapped in his hold, she was forced backward, her back slamming against the leather door panel.
She was dressed in light linen pants and a cream blouse, leaving her entirely vulnerable.
She kicked furiously twice, failing to shake him off. The adrenaline and sheer rage sent her blood boiling.
The loose fabric of her pants bunched up, fully exposing the smooth length of her calf.
Nelson's hand firmly wrapped around her ankle. Seeing her finally stop thrashing, an arrogant smirk tugged at his lips. "Exhausted already?"
The man could infuriate a saint.
Juniper squeezed her eyes shut and turned her head away, playing dead. Only the rapid, erratic heaving of her chest betrayed her explosive fury.
Nelson stared at her, his gaze intense and heavy.
He had shared a bed with her for five years. He knew every micro-expression, every involuntary twitch of her body.
Whenever she was too enraged to function, she would shut down and aggressively stare at nothing.
He leaned down slowly and sank his teeth into the soft skin of her calf.
A sharp gasp tore from Juniper's throat. She bolted upright, raising her hand to smack him, but he simply locked her leg down, forcing her back into the seat as she gasped for air.
A deep, flushed bite mark stained her skin.
Nelson stared obsessively at the mark. Driven by a dark, intoxicating urge, he lowered his mouth and bit down again, deepening his claim.
"Jerk! Asshole! Bastard! Go to hell!"
She fired off every curse she could think of.
The barrage of insults only fed his twisted arousal. He glanced down at the straining fabric of his slacks, taking a ragged breath. "Same old vocabulary. Haven't learned any new tricks these past few years?"
She bit her lip so hard she nearly drew blood. "Psycho!"
He slowly released her leg. She immediately snapped into an upright position, pressing herself as far back into the door as possible, eyeing him like he was an active bomb.
She covertly pulled the handle, but the child locks were engaged.
The massive SUV felt claustrophobic, yet the space between them felt like an infinite, hostile divide.
Without warning, Nelson tipped over and casually rested his head squarely on her lap.
"Get the hell off me!"
She shoved hard at his shoulders, but his heavy frame was like solid concrete. He didn't budge an inch.
He closed his eyes. The bright red handprint was still screaming across his jaw.
