He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

Enough to explain why helping her approach him had become impossible.

When I finished, she stared at me for a moment.

Then she sighed.

“You should’ve told me.”

“I know.”

“You really should’ve.”

“I know.”

Another sigh.

Then she nudged my shoulder.

“It’s okay.”

Relief hit me so quickly that I nearly hugged her.

I restrained myself through sheer strength of character.

Or fear.

Possibly fear.

“Really?”

“Really.”

I let out a dramatic breath.

“Thank God.”

“You are exhausting.”

“I’ve heard that before.”

“Frequently?”

“Suspiciously frequently.”

That finally earned a laugh and the tension eased.

Just like that.

For the first time in days, I felt lighter.

“Actually,” I said, “I can still help you with Adrian if you want. I can find a way.”

Her expression shifted.

“No.”

I blinked.

“No?”

“Nah.”

I frowned.

“What happened to the date plan?”

Aria shrugged.

“He’s busy with Mabel so I don’t feel like stepping into that anymore.”

That sounded reasonable.

Mostly. But then I hoped it wasn’t because of me.

“I can still help if-”

“Daisy.”

She smiled.

“I’m fine.”

“You sure?”

“Yes.”

Then she glanced toward the crowd.

“There are other attractive people in this school.”

I laughed.

“That was fast.”

“Adaptability is a valuable life skill.”

Fair enough.

Then her voice-lowered slightly. –

“So yeah. I can get someone else. But whoever has Adrian right now should hold on tightly.” She said and something about the way she said it felt strange.

The words themselves weren’t.

The tone was.

For a brief second, it felt like there was something underneath them But then the feeling passed.

I was overthinking.

“Do you truly forgive me?” I asked.

“Yes, Daisy.”

“Completely?”

“Mostly.”

I gasped.

“Aria.”

“I’m kidding.”

I laughed despite myself. Then shook my head.

“You know, you’re actually a really good friend.”

Her smile softened.

“So are you.”

“That is objectively false.”

“Too bad.”

I grinned. Then looked around.

The crowd was still moving steadily toward another area of campus.

“What’s happening?”
