Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Hope’s POV
It didn’t dawn on me at first that Levi had pressed his lips against mine.

The situation felt impossible-like something my mind had invented after spending too much time around him.
And yet, his lips had been on mine.
The sensation disappeared almost as quickly as it came, leaving behind a strange emptiness that settled deep inside my chest. A dangerous disappointment. I immediately scolded myself for it. What was wrong with me?
“I’ll count to three,” he muttered.
His voice was low enough to send a tremor through me.
“If you don’t pull away now, I’ll kiss you breathless.”
My throat tightened. So, this was really happening. I’m not imagining things. This wasn’t a dream.
“Three.”
The word rolled off his tongue slowly. His breath brushed against my face, close enough for me to catch the faint scent of mint. Or maybe I was still tasting him.
“Two.”
He leaned in slightly, not even to touch me, but near enough to make my heart race even faster.
I remained frozen in my seat. My eyes searched his face desperately. Was he serious? Was this some kind of joke? Some kind of challenge?
“Why?” I whispered before I could stop myself.
His gaze never left mine.
“Why are you going to kiss me, Levi?”
Something unrecognizable flashed through his eyes. He didn’t answer. Instead, his jaw tightened.
“One.”
At the final count, he kissed me again. The world vanished. Every thought scattered like leaves caught in a tornado.
His hand slid up to cup the side of my face, anchoring me in place as his mouth claimed mine with a force that made my heart stumble.
A soft sound escaped me before I could swallow it back.
His eyes opened slightly, and I could see how dark they were. Another tremor ran down my spine as he completely focused
on me.
This was quite bad.
No-this was really, really bad.
I had promised myself I wouldn’t do this again. I wouldn’t fall for another hockey player and blindly walk toward another

heartbreak. Yet every warning I had given myself seemed to dissolve whenever Levi looked at me like that.
Before I realized what was happening, his hand found my waist.

The space between us disappeared. One second, I was sitting beside him. The next, I was perched awkwardly across his lap, staring down at him in shock. His arm wrapped securely around my waist.
The contrast of his actions now to the first time we met made my head spin. This was the same Levi who used to act like touching me was a sin. The same Levi who seemed determined to keep everyone at arm’s length. And now he was holding me, like letting go wasn’t an option.
I take back my previous realizations. This had to be a dream. There was no other explanation.
His forehead brushed mine. The simple contact sent another wave of warmth through me.
“Hope.”
The air inside the car suddenly felt too warm. Every nerve ending seemed painfully aware of him.
His thumb brushed lightly across my cheek. The gesture was so gentle it caught me off guard. Levi wasn’t gentle. At least, not with anyone else.
“Levi…” I breathed.
His eyes dropped briefly to my lips before returning to my gaze.
His fingers tilted my chin upward. My heart pounded harder. I felt trapped inside his orbit, completely surrounded by him. But the terrifying part was that I didn’t want to escape.
His lips caressed mine with rigor, pushing and pulling until I was breathless. He held me there like he couldn’t get enough, and my mind was turning into a mess of a puddle.
He bit my lip, and another sound left me, making him groan and dive in deeper.
Levi removed his hand from my chin and placed both arms around my waist. I was getting really breathless, and it felt like I was losing oxygen. However, it seemed like Levi had all the oxygen in the world as he continued to kiss me.
This was even better than the last time we had kissed. It was because I knew that he was doing it out of his own volition and not because of the daze of his own sickness this time. However, that, too, was a dangerous thought because I didn’t know what to make of it.
The sound of our saliva exchanging filled his fragrant car, making it sound more lewd. It felt sinful doing something like this inside the car that he kept so clean.
“Breathe through your nose,” he muttered, separating our lips for a little while. That gave me time to breathe, but not enough time to comprehend his words.
My lips were already tingling, but he continued kissing them, nipping them, until the tingles were much more sensitive than before.
It felt like the first time I was kissing again, because it never felt like this with Connor. How could kissing actually feel this good?
He finally moved back, and I took a deep breath. A string of saliva was between us, which I thought he would find disgusting. Instead, he licked his bottom lip all while looking me in the eyes, as though savoring the saliva that we had shared with each other.
I felt myself gulp, my body feeling sensations I had never felt before.

At that moment, I wanted to ask. I wanted to know-what was this? What was going on with us?
However, before a word could escape my lips, there was a tapping on his window.

We both turned to the side and found Zayla standing outside of his car with bags in her hands and tears streaming down her face. I quickly removed myself from his lap and went back to the passenger seat.
Levi was frowning as he opened the door, while my heart still raced from everything.
When the door opened, Zayla’s cries were heard. “Bring me to the airport now,” she sobbed.
