Chapter 47
Hope’s POV

Oh, this was one of the best sleeps I had gotten in a while. My body didn’t ache from exhaustion. My brain wasn’t overthinking. There was no anxiety waiting for me the second I opened my eyes.
This was the kind of feeling that made me want to stay buried forever and continue sleeping until the end of the world itself. However, something suddenly nagged at the back of my mind-a tiny voice, a feeling.
My brows furrowed, and my eyes slowly opened-just in time to see Aiden emerging from the door. For a few seconds, my sleepy brain struggled to process anything.
However, I snapped, alerted, when I realized I was inside a room! I immediately sat upright. Horror flooded my system.
“How did I get here?” I asked.
The expression on Aiden’s face looked far too entertained.
“Imagine my shock,” Aiden started, placing a hand over his chest, “when I saw Levi Reeve carrying someone princess-style out of his car.”
“The very car he still refuses to let me ride because apparently I’m ‘dirty.”
My lips pursed, and against my will, my brain produced the image of Levi carrying me, his arms around me and my face buried somewhere near his neck. Heat climbed up my cheeks.
“Gosh,” Aiden sighed dreamily while clasping both hands in front of his chest like an obsessed fan. “Levi is really softening up.”
“I should’ve known getting him to agree to this was already a miracle,” he continued. “But with you convincing him— anything’s possible.”
“He did not agree because of me,” I denied it right away.
Aiden simply stared at me, his expression still showing the same teasing look. He didn’t believe me. Not even slightly.
Why did more and more people keep insisting Levi Reeve liked me?
They were completely wrong, and I could prove that!
“Anyway,” I quickly changed the topic before Aiden could continue ruining my mental stability. “Where’s Levi?”
His grin widened.
“Already looking for your boyfriend?”
“No,” I deadpanned. “It’s because of the photoshoot, dimwit. It must’ve started already.”
“He postponed it.””What?”
“He postponed it,” Aiden repeated while still wearing that annoying smirk that reminded me way too much of Desmond. “You know.”
“Why would he do that?”
“Well…”

“He didn’t want to wake a certain someone,” he said, smile widening with every word. “Oh, but his official reason is that he hates the heat. So, the photographer decided to commence the shoot during the golden hour. You still have time.”
I rolled my eyes.
“You should’ve just told me the second reason.”
He raised a brow. “But that’s not the real reason.”
“Quit creating ridiculous fantasies in your head!” I exclaimed.
Before he could, tease me further, I went to the bathroom to freshen up. However, the moment I looked into the mirror. I froze. My cheeks were really red.
“Get yourself together,” I scolded myself. “They’re just teasing you.”
After freshening up, I quickly left before Aiden could resume his psychological warfare.
Fortunately, finding the shooting area turned out easier than expected. A massive tent stood in the middle of the pine bush reserve. People moved around outside preparing equipment while assistants rushed back and forth.
I stayed near the entrance and spotted his silhouette inside with two makeup artists in front of him.
“Umm… Sir Reeve,” one said carefully. “We need to get ready soon. The photographer said the timing is important.”
“I told you.”
Levi’s voice was cold.
“I don’t want either of you touching my face.”
I massaged the bridge of my nose.
Seriously! Could he be any ruder? Did he not care for his reputation at all? Thank goodness I borrowed Freya’s makeup kit.
I finally entered. One makeup artist immediately stopped me.
“Sorry, Miss. Only authorized personnel-”
“She’s my makeup artist,” Levi’s words cut through hers.
The artist froze and quickly apologized. “Sorry about that,” she muttered. “Do you think you can finish within two hours? Do you need help?”
“She doesn’t need help.”
Levi answered before I could. Crossing his arms, he gave me that knowing smirk.
“She’s an expert.”
I nearly cursed. I literally told him I wasn’t. He was definitely doing this on purpose!
“I’m no expert,” I immediately corrected. “But Levi’s pretty picky despite being a grown man.”
I offered the women an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry about that.”
I could feel Levi staring at me.

“It’s okay,” one quickly said. “We just need him ready before three.”
“No worries,” I smiled.
“I’ll have him out by then.”
The two eventually left, the tent closing behind them.
With that, I turned toward Levi, a small glare already waiting for him.
“I saw the image board. You should’ve woken me earlier if you expected me to do everything.”
“You were sleeping,” he said with a shrug. “You looked comfortable.”
My heart stupidly skipped, but I ignored it.
“Still,” I moved closer. “Sit properly.”
I started with the base.

Thankfully, Levi was unfairly good-looking, so two hours might just be what he needed. He didn’t need much touching up.
I worked carefully-mostly because Levi was ridiculously fussy. I lightly dabbed concealer beneath his eyes.
“You should’ve slept while I slept too,” I muttered while blending. Amidst the task, my lower palm accidentally brushed against his lips.
I stopped for a moment. They were warmer than the rest of him and were quite rough.
My brows furrowed. Without thinking, I reached into the kit and pulled out some lip balm. I scooped some onto my fingers and leaned closer, my gaze dropping to his lips.
His lips looked even fuller up close. That made me pause for another second-I had kissed these lips before. I immediately shook the thought away.
I carefully dabbed the balm, but it wasn’t smoothing properly, making me frown.
“Why are your lips so rough?” I muttered while applying more. “You should use balm more often.”
Levi sighed quietly. Something about the sound made me look up. His eyes were already on me.
The air suddenly felt strange.
“I know an effective way to get rid of the rough patches,” he muttered.
My eyes brightened. He actually knew some kind of hack?
“What?”
His gaze dropped briefly toward my lips then returned to my eyes.
“Making out.”
