Hands Off The Ice King novel Chapter 171

171: HOPE

Hope’s POV

My parents definitely had a lot of fun. They decided to stay with the middle-aged crowd a little longer so they could go to karaoke. The twins’ parents even offered to take them back to the hotel since they were staying at the same place.

We were already on our way home, but first, we still had to drive a certain drunk person back to her house

“Our star player is really going to leave? How are we going to survive the regular season?”

Beth was sprawled across the backseat, tears streaming down her face like a brokenhearted teenager.

Lia, who had been kind enough to help her get home, sighed impatiently.

“Beth, you’ve asked that question a hundred times now.”

“That’s because it still hasn’t been answered!” she complained.

“I already told you. We’re going to help the scouting team. We might not find the next Levi Reeve, but with the remaining players still there, we should still be able to secure a spot for the Winter’s Crown.”

“I’ve looked at the prospective players!” Beth exclaimed, throwing both hands into the air. “There’s no one there. Most of them had already been recruited by the other teams while Margaret was busy trying to tear Levi down! Damn her. Even after leaving, she still managed to leave all of her problems for me.”

“Gosh, it feels like I’m taking care of a child,” Lia muttered under her breath.

“Well, it would be difficult to replace me,” Levi said with a smug smirk. “But I know someone who might be able to fill my shoes while I’m taking a break.”

Every single one of us turned our attention to him.

It honestly felt like Beth had sobered up in an instant, while Lia immediately leaned forward, poking her head through the space between the two front seats.

This was news to me as well.

“Really?” Beth exclaimed, her eyes sparkling.

“Yeah,” he answered. “I’ll text you the details. Just make sure to show up when I tell you to.”

With that, the car slowly came to a halt.

“We’re here,” Levi said as he looked over his shoulder. “Get out now.”

Beth immediately grabbed both of his shoulders.

“You’re not lying, are you? How could you possibly know a player good enough to fill your shoes who hasn’t already been signed by another pro team?”

He clicked his tongue before gently pushing her away.

“I just know, okay? Make sure to check your phone. You too, Lia.”

Lia nodded excitedly before grabbing Beth and hauling her out of the car before she could ask any more questions.

“See you guys around!”

“See you soon,” I called back with a smile, waving as they disappeared toward Beth’s house.

Once they were gone, Levi started driving toward our house.

He let out a deep, relieved breath.

“Finally.”

“What?” I asked, turning to him with a slight tilt of my head.

He smirked before reaching over and intertwining our fingers together.

“I can finally have you all to myself. I’ve been waiting for so long.”

I cleared my throat before gently pulling my hand away from his.

“Both hands on the wheel, Levi.”

He let out a quiet huff but obeyed nonetheless, making the corners of my lips curl upward.

Then my thoughts drifted back to what he had promised Beth.

“Do you really know a player like that?”

“Yeah,” he answered with a meaningful smile.

“Who?”

This time, he didn’t answer.

“Do I know him?”

“You do,” he replied vaguely.

“Oh,” I muttered, frowning thoughtfully. “Who could it be? Is he from another team who wants to join the Glaciers?”

He merely glanced at me before smiling again. Instead of answering, he pulled up to our gate and parked in the driveway.

“We’re here.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.

“You still haven’t answered my question.”

Once again, he completely ignored it. Instead, he wrapped an arm around me, lifting me onto his lap.

My eyes widened the moment I felt how hard he already was.

This position…

It was very, very familiar.

I gently flicked his forehead, but instead of reacting, he simply leaned into my touch like he enjoyed it.

“We’re not doing this again, Levi. The last time we did it in your car, we nearly got caught by one of your fans.”

He looked at me with dark, heated eyes, as though he hadn’t heard a single word I had just said.

“That’s because we were out in public, Hope. We’re already parked at our house. There’s no one here to interrupt us.”
