167: LEVI

Levi’s POV

Hope’s lips were sweeter than any victory. The medal and the MVP award could be given to anyone, but with Hope standing beside me, it was more than enough. It was everything.

I pulled her face closer to mine, kissing her even deeper, savoring the moment I had been waiting for all game. However, she placed both hands against my chest and gently pushed me away. I looked down at her, confused.

“What’s wrong?”

She bit her lip, and my gaze instinctively fell to the spot her teeth had pressed into before I noticed her glancing around us. She shut her eyes for a brief second, her cheeks warming with what looked like embarrassment.

“Everyone’s looking, Levi.”

I finally lifted my head and realized that nearly every camera-and almost every pair of eyes in the arena-was focused on

I clicked my tongue.

Nosy, are they?

“Ignore them.” I told her, my attention drifting back to her lips again.

“Later, Levi. Patience,” she warned, trying not to laugh.

With that, she stepped back and smiled politely at the cameras. The flashes somehow became even more frantic the second she smiled, making me let out a defeated breath. I grabbed my hoodie hanging from the barricade and draped it over her shoulders.

She looked up at me with wide, surprised eyes as I pulled the hood over her head. It hid her face, which was exactly what I wanted.

She was far too beautiful to be stared at by these commoners.

“Meet me after the press conference in the locker room.”

She nodded, still looking confused by what I had done, but I smiled when she didn’t remove the hoodie.

“Levi, over here!”

“How did you manage to win despite not having a coach?”

“One smile over here, Levi!”

I clicked my tongue and sat at the table in front, where the press conference was being held. Desmond had just finished answering his questions, and now it was my turn.

Unfortunately.

I wanted nothing more than to get this over with so I could go back to Hope and celebrate with her family and Zayla.

“One at a time.” I said as they continued shouting questions my way. “Only five questions, alright?”

At once, hands shot into the air, everyone fighting to be called on first.

This was a rare occurrence for them too, I supposed. I had stopped attending press conferences after winning my first championship, so opportunities like this didn’t come often.

I spotted a few familiar reporters from the bigger networks, but I already knew the kinds of questions they wanted to ask. The same useless ones that only stirred unnecessary drama.

That was exactly why I chose to call on the fans instead.

I pointed toward a shy-looking woman wearing a Glaciers jersey.

She cleared her throat before speaking.

“It was pretty clear from the beginning that the odds were against you. No coach. No official substitute. How did you manage to turn the game in your favor?”

I had a much longer answer. I’d already given it back in the locker room. But this wasn’t the place for long speeches.

“Easy.” I smiled. “I just played like it was my last game.”

Pens immediately moved across notebooks while others typed rapidly on their laptops. I nodded before choosing another

person.

This time, it was a teenage boy wearing our team merchandise.

“At the beginning of the game, it was caught on camera that Liam Moretti said something to you. After that, it looked like you became even more fired up. What did he say?”

“Good question.” I replied with a faint smirk as my mind wandered back to the opening minutes of the game.

That dear cousin of mine really had no idea what he was doing.

He was just like Connor.

Neither of them understood that the moment they said anything disrespectful about Hope, especially when they sexualized her, they had already lost. All they did was give me another reason to crush them even harder.

I folded my arms across my chest.

“Well, there’s been some debate about who the real Ice King is between the two of us,” I began. “He challenged me for that title, even though I honestly don’t care much about it. Still… I won.”

I shrugged.

“So I guess there’s nothing left to debate.”

Whispers spread across the room. Some reporters chuckled while others hurriedly scribbled notes or typed on their laptops.

There was no chance I was going to repeat the disgusting things he’d said about Hope.

I’d rather let everyone believe it was about some petty rivalry than let those words be spoken out loud again.

Besides, what he actually said was far worse. He wouldn’t be able to say that my words were untrue.

I answered two more questions about the game before calling on the final person.

This time, it was a little girl
