Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 491

Chapter 491

After they left the ICU, Chris glanced at Winter’s hand hanging at her side.

His fingers moved slightly. Then he reached out and took her hand.

The moment Winter shifted, he said, “For the first three days, Richie will be going through chemo. He’ll be very. weak, so we can only wait outside. We won’t be able to see him again until those three days are over.”

Winter’s eyes were red, and she was clearly trying hard not to cry.

Chris exhaled, stepped forward, and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.

“You don’t have to hold it in.”

A muffled, painful sob came from his arms.

Gradually, her crying grew louder.

Something in Chris’s chest tightened like a string pulled too taut, trembling under the strain. He lifted his hand, pressed his palm to the back of her head, and lowered his face against the side of hers.

For one brief moment, he had thought about taking her to the island and bringing her back after those three days

were over.

But he didn’t want Winter to have any regrets.

No matter what happened, the three of them were a family.

They should face this together.

“We’ll stay outside with him. He’ll know we’re there. In three days, the first person he’ll want to see will be you. Promise me you’ll wait with me, okay?

“It isn’t just Richie.

“I need you too, Winnie.”

Winter stiffened slightly in his arms.

Beneath her furrowed brows, tears spilled out again.

Chris felt her trembling. He didn’t say anything more. He only held her tighter, as if he were afraid that if he loosened his arms, she would disappear.

After she fell asleep last night, he had quietly gone to her room.

The medication she took before bed had a sedative effect, so she didn’t know he had been there.

He had seen the fresh bandage around her wrist.

The ointment had only been applied the evening before yesterday. Based on the timing, the dressing shouldn’t have needed changing until this evening at the earliest.

But the knot in the bandage was messy.

It didn’t look like something a nurse had tied.

It had probably been done by someone close to her, either William or Wendy.

If her dressing had been changed early, and by someone close to her, there was a good chance she had hurt herself again. William and Wendy must have avoided calling the nurses because they didn’t want to upset her further.

Chris knew what it meant when someone with depression started hurting themselves.

That night, Dominic pulled up to Zac’s villa and parked in the driveway.

He got out, shut the door, and walked straight into the living room. Zac was already there, sitting on the sofa with a glass of water in his hand.

Zac had always taken care of himself. He had only looked unwell before because he was worn out After a few days of proper rest, he was already looking much better.

“Richie’s treatment is about to start. How are things on your end?”

“I’m doing fine. I just feel bad for the kid.”

At the thought of such a young child having to suffer so much, Zac felt heavy inside.

He had gone into the isolation room to see Richie before.
