Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 445

Winter’s eyes shifted slightly She looked at Mr. White, who was sitting beside the bed, but she didn’t say anything.

Those empty eyes had lost every ace of light.

“Didn’t you always love the roast beef sandwiches from that little shop?” Wendy said gently. “I bought some for you. Just ta one bite, okay?”

Winter’s lips moved faintly, but she still didn’t speak. Tears slipped silently from the corners of her eyes.

Mr. White’s eyes had already been red before she woke. Now, seeing her like this, his heart ached so badly that tears fell agai He held her hand tightly and coaxed her with patient tenderness.

“Don’t cry. Eat a little, all right?”

At last, Winter spoke. Her voice was hoarse.

“I’m not hungry.”

William’s throat tightened. He turned his face away.

Mr. White pleaded softly, “Just one bite, okay?”

But Winter didn’t answer. She only closed her eyes weakly.

William received a call. The top psychiatrist they had flown in from overseas had arrived in Liono City. He turned and left the room, and Wendy quickly followed him out to meet the doctor.

“Ms. Winter, be good. Eat a little something,” Mr. White coaxed patiently in the quiet hospital room.

But Winter seemed not to hear him.

His gaze fell on her face, which had grown visibly thinner. His yoice caught, and he lowered his head.

Then, suddenly, a hand gently touched the top of his head.

Mr. White froze. Then he immediately looked up in surprise.

“Ms. Winter…”

But her words were like cold water poured over him.

“Mr. White, don’t worry about me. I’ll eat when I’m hungry.”

She hadn’t eaten all day. The little she had forced down at noon had all come back up. How could she not be hungry?

It wasn’t that she wasn’t hungry.

It was that she couldn’t eat.

For one brief second, he had thought she might finally be willing to eat something. Instead, she was still trying to comfort him,

William had been right.

Everything she had suffered had begun with him. It was his selfishness that had pushed her, step by step, into this abyss of pain.

Every wound Winter carried had been caused by him.

He didn’t deserve to see her.

Chris took Winter’s hand and brought it to his lips, kissing it gently.

“Winnie.

“I know I was wrong.”

In her sleep, Winter seemed to fall into another nightmare. Her brows drew together, and her lashes trembled. Her voice came out hoarse and full of pain.

“Rely on yourself… trust only your eyes… Who are you, really?”

Chris’s hands stiffened around hers. His bottomless dark eyes fixed on her face.

His cool fingertips gently smoothed the crease between her brows. When Winter finally quieted and her breathing evened out, Chris looked at her sleeping face and whispered,

“It’s me.”
