Chapter 366
“Yes, Mr. Xander.”
The medical staff were led down to the basement by Gavin.
The basement door opened, then closed again.
“What are you doing? What are you trying to do?” Skyla struggled violently as she watched the doctor and nurses approach her.
Gavin stood off to the side. Then he walked over and struck her sharply at the back of the neck.
Skyla, who had been thrashing just moments ago, lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.
Gavin looked at the stunned medical staff and said flatly, “You can proceed with the bone marrow aspiration.”
For someone ruthless enough to kill Mrs. Young, there was no need to waste anesthesia.
When Winter woke, a dim lamp was on in the room.
It was enough for her to see where she was.
The moment she recognized the familiar room, she sat up abruptly.
But very quickly, she realized this wasn’t the villa on the island.
There was no sound of waves. No floral scent in the air. Everything in the room looked almost the same at first glance, but there were subtle differences.
If she hadn’t looked closely, she almost would have thought Chris had brought her back to the island again.
But where was this?
Just then, the door cracked open, and a German shepherd slipped inside.
“General!”
Winter’s eyes lit up. She threw back the covers, got out of bed, and ran toward him, pulling him into her arms.
If General was here, then this had to be Blackwood Manor.
She let go of him and strode to the floor-to-ceiling windows, yanking open the curtains.
Blackwood Manor’s garden came into full view.
This was Blackwood Manor
And from this angle, she was looking out at the garden from the exact spot where her old room used to be.
She nodded. “I’m hungry, Mr. White.”
At breakfast, Mr. White peeled an egg for her and said, “You need to eat more. If you get any thinner, even General will be able to knock you over.”
Listening to his familiar nagging, Winter’s eyes grew slightly wet.
Just then, a bodyguard came in from outside.
“Mr. White, William is here.”
Mr. White’s hand paused halfway through peeling the egg.
Winter immediately said, “Don’t stop him.”
The bodyguard froze, then looked at Mr. White uncertainly.
Mr. White waved a hand. “Mr. Xander already gave instructions. No one is to stop him.”
Winter finished the egg, then got up and walked outside.
When she reached the porch, Mr. White’s slightly hoarse voice came from behind her.
“Miss Winter, do you still love Mr. Xander?”
