As she spoke, the caregiver reached over to pull back the blanket covering Skyla’s legs.

Without warning, Skyla slapped her hard across the face.

The caregiver was completely stunned. Her face went white.

“The ship… the ship docked last night. Mr. Xander, he… he didn’t come back…”

Skyla’s eyes trembled.

Her gaze went unfocused. She fumbled along the edge of the bed until she found her phone and called Chris.
