Chapter 185

Winter turned around without thinking, but the people around her were just part of the crowd filing out of the elevator.
Behind her, Zac stayed close, quietly shielding her from the people brushing past.
The elevator doors slowly slid shut behind them. For a brief second, only a narrow gap remained, and then it closed completely.
“What’s wrong?” Zac noticed she was glancing around instead of watching where she was going, so he lifted a hand as if to steady her without quite touching her.
Winter shook her head and looked away.
Maybe she was imagining it.
Yesterday, when she heard Roy cough, she had somehow started thinking that a mute person’s cough might sound different from everyone else’s.
But that was ridiculous.
A cough was just a cough.
If anything, from the sound of it, she figured that if Roy could speak, he would probably have a very nice
voice.
Maybe even one like Chris’s.
She really had thought she heard Roy just now.
By then, the people who had stepped out of the elevator were already dispersing. One unfamiliar man walking past her coughed a few times while talking to someone beside him.
Winter paused and looked at him.
He was average height, and after coughing, he just kept chatting like nothing had happened.
It wasn’t Roy.
So she really had heard wrong.
Besides, if Roy had actually been there, how could he have just walked past without saying a word to her?
Inside the closed elevator, Chris coughed into his fist, his cold expression growing even more distant.
The floor button inside the elevator still hadn’t lit up.
He lowered his eyes and pressed the button to open the doors again.
The elevator doors slid open.

Chris stood inside, his dark gaze fixed on the figure walking away with Zac and Zion.
Just then, the phone in his pocket vibrated.
A message came in. It was from Winter
“Roy, where are you?”
His fingertip paused over the screen for a moment before he typed back.
“Home.”
“Is your cold any better?”
“Yeah.”
Winter got into the car. After hesitating for a moment, she sent another message.

rushed over. The second he saw her lying there in bed with her pale face, he was furious.
“You… how could you do something this foolish?”
“Uncle Jimmy, what are you doing here?” Skyla reached out to him,
She was wearing a thin pajama top, and as she lifted her arm, the sleeve slid up slightly.
It exposed a section of her pale wrist and the ruby bracelet around it.
Against her pale skin, the red stones looked even deeper and richer in color.
Jimmy narrowed his eyes slightly.
Skyla didn’t notice the change in his expression. She simply took his hand and asked, “Is the review list for the overseas correspondent post in Eveland coming out soon?”
Jimmy sat down by her bed and looked at her with helpless fondness.
He had only just arrived, and that was already the first thing she wanted to ask.
How badly did she want Winter out of Liono City?
