Chapter 414 Build My Own Power Base
Everyone nodded in silent agreement. “We understand.”
Judging by how readily they obeyed, Scarlett held far more real authority than Fiona ever had.
Finished
The group would carry out Fiona’s orders, yet their compliance had never felt as genuine as it was with Scarlett.
A capable leader truly made all the difference for a team.
Layla had led small groups back in the apocalypse, so she understood this dynamic perfectly.
She and Scarlett exchanged a knowing look.
“I will handle their official backstories,” Scarlett said calmly. “You don’t need to worry about that.”
Layla nodded.
Scarlett gave her shoulder a gentle pat, her tone soft. “You’ve all been pushing hard. You must be worn out. Go get some proper rest.”
Layla nodded, then turned and left the program camp with George, Oliver, and Carson, heading slowly toward their log cabin.
On the way, they ran into Emily.
Emily hurried over, concern clear on her face. “Did you guys make it through that forest alright?”
She had seen the main events through Vanguard’s broadcast, but she still wanted to hear the full story from Layla herself.
Layla smiled and nodded, “We’re fine. Don’t worry. How about you?”
A bright, confident smile spread across Emily’s face. “Jacob just brought down two deer. I’m going to have him send half over to your place.”
Layla waved her hands quickly to decline. “No, keep it for yourselves. We’ve got someone who’s great at hunting.”
She glanced back toward Carson with a playful grin.
A faint smile tugged at Carson’s lips, his eyes lighting up. He gave a short nod.
Even when he had led wolf packs and brought home mountains of prey, he had never felt this sense of pride.
Emily laughed softly, watching his reaction. “We’re only living in a tent. We don’t have any good way to store meat. It’ll spoil fast if we keep it, so we might as well pass some along.”
She stepped forward and took Layla’s hand. “If you feel bad accepting it, just give me some salt in return.”

Chapter 414 Build My Own Power Base
Emily had nearly used up all the salt rations the progratn had issued to the male contestants.
Finished
The supply had never been large to begin with, and they had held quite a few celebratory feasts lately. So, naturally, there wasn’t much salt left.
Sure, come back with us, and I’ll get it for you,” Layla agreed readily.
Emily glanced toward the camp and hesitated. “I heard you brought two people back. Are they native to Planet A13?”
Layla saw no reason to keep secrets from Emily.
She shook her head and glanced at Oliver.
Oliver lifted an eyebrow, signaling she could speak freely without worrying about him.
Layla chuckled and told Emily the whole story, though she left out everything about the energy field.
She only explained Arnold had fled to this planet to protect Oliver.
Emily rested her chin in her hand, as if she already knew pieces of the truth. “Does this tie into some kind of precious energy source?”
Layla’s eyes widened in surprise. “You already know about it?”
Emily smiled, helpless, “I do have some standing in the galaxy. I’ve heard the rumors.”
Since Emily already had partial knowledge, Layla told her about the energy field as they walked toward the
cabin.
A smile formed on Emily’s lips. “I never expected Planet A13 to hold so many hidden treasures.”
Layla nodded mysteriously, pressing her hands together and looking at Emily with eager eyes. “You have o keep this strictly confidential. I’m planning to claim this planet someday and build my own power base.”
Emily laughed at Layla’s little greedy act.
She glanced at the powerful males standing behind I ayla. “Every one of the males behind you holds wealth and influence.”
Layla’s expression turned serious. “It’s not the same. Relying on men feels nothing like relying on yourself.”
