Fluffy Mates Chase Their Boss on Survival Show novel Chapter 347

Chapter 347 We’re Celebrating Tonight

The pure contempt in Layla’s eyes pushed Ciara over the edge.

She surged forward, her hand flying up to slap Layla across the face.

Carson moved to protect her, but Layla was already in motion. She caught Ciara’s wrist mid- swing and flung it aside.

Ciara, totally off balance, crashed to the ground. Her expensive custom-made suit was instantly smeared with mud. She looked up at Layla, stunned.

Layla’s gaze was like ice. Every memory of how the original Layla had been treated in the book surged up inside her, a hot wave of fury.

She stepped forward and stared down at Ciara with a smile that was all teeth. “Why are you looking at me like that? You actually think that just because you gave birth to me, I should bow and scrape before you?”

Even if Layla wasn’t her daughter, Ciara had never been treated like this in her life. She was trembling, so furious she could barely string a sentence together. “You ungrateful, worthless bitch!” she spat.

Layla crossed her arms and looked down at Ciara as the bodyguards scrambled to pull her to her feet. A cold smile played on her lips. “Ungrateful? To who? Even if you didn’t know I was switched at birth, what did you do when I came back? Why should I be grateful to you? You never raised me. And as for giving birth to me-that’s not exactly some grand favor. It’s not like I asked you to do it.”

Ciara could barely breathe. Her face went pale, and it was obvious Layla’s words had cut deep.

Stella rushed over and grabbed Ciara’s arm, patting her chest to calm her down. Then she turned to Layla with the most self-righteous expression she could muster. “Layla, how can you talk to Mom like that? She went through so much to bring you into this world!”

Layla let out a short, humorless laugh. “If she actually cared about that, then she shouldn’t have treated me the way she did when I came back.”

She paused and tilted her head. “What do you think, Stella? Want me to spill every dirty detail about life in the Grant household? All the cold shoulders and the neglect? Right here, on camera?”

Layla’s gaze flicked toward the Vanguard for just a second.

Ciara and Stella exchanged a look, and both their faces went pale. The Grant family business was already taking heat from the public over the Stella and Layla scandal. Business was already suffering.

If Layla started spilling those kinds of details in front of the entire interstellar audience, it would be a PR nightmare.

Ciara sucked in a sharp breath and glared at Layla with a venomous smile. “Fine. Good. You’ve certainly grown a spine. We’ll see how long those males of yours actually stick around once you’ve got no ties to the Grant family.”

Layla rolled her eyes so hard it was a wonder they didn’t get stuck.

[But I thought Stella and Emily were close? They’ve been drifting apart, sure, but would Stella really go that far?]

[If it was her, that’s beyond messed up. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night with someone like that around.]

[How do those two males even live under the same roof with her?]

The comments mocking her made Stella’s face go even whiter. Her eyes went red, and she clutched Ciara’s hand. “Mom,” she whimpered.

Ciara pulled Stella into her arms immediately, stroking her shoulder. “It’s okay. I’m here. Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.”

Watching their little mother-daughter love fest made Layla’s stomach turn. She cut in, her voice sharp with impatience, “You came to this planet to help Stella rebuild her house. Or were you planning on letting your daughter sleep outside tonight?”

That snapped Ciara back to reality. Layla was right-she was wasting time here.

She pulled herself together and stepped toward Layla, locking eyes with her. “Remember this, Layla. From this moment on, there is no place for you in the Grant family!”

Layla said, “Oh,” and then turned her head toward the cabin and shouted, “Hey! Bring out all the meat we’ve got! We’re celebrating tonight. Finally free of that toxic dead weight for good!”
