Chapter 342 A Little Reminder
Julian went on high alert immediately and called out toward the door, “Who’s out there?”
The moment he yelled, the whole cabin shuddered.
Then came the roar of water, so loud it was like the sky had cracked open and was dumping everything straight onto their roof. The raw mud walls started crumbling on the spot.
Stella’s eyes went huge. “What the hell is happening?” she shrieked.
Chunks of mud and branches rained down around them, and the lights inside flickered out.
Outside, Layla and the others could hear Stella screaming, Leonard and Julian shouting over each other in total chaos.
Stella stared at the collapsing walls, her voice sharp with panic and fury. “What is this? It’s not even raining!” she shouted.
Leonard and Julian exchanged a look and moved to shield her.
“Someone’s doing this on purpose,” Leonard said under his breath.
They got Stella out first. The second they were clear, two figures bolted out and split up, running in opposite directions.
Stella screamed, “Go after them! I want to know who did this!”
Leonard hesitated. “What if it’s a diversion?”
Stella was way past thinking straight.
“You think I can’t protect myself? The production team is right there. What could possibly happen? Just go!” she snapped.
Hidden in the shadows, Layla watched Leonard and Julian take off and let a slow smile curve her lips.
Stella was covered head to toe in filthy mud, along with the twigs and leaves that had been packed into the
walls for reinforcement.
She wiped at the mess, muttering furiously under her breath, “When I find out who did this, I swear I’ll kill you!”
Layla’s voice cut through the dark. “Oh? You’ll kill me?”
Stella’s head whipped up. There was Layla, arms crossed, staring at her with a cold, amused look.
Stella’s eyes blazed with pure fury. She scanned the area and saw only Layla, Oliver with that stupid grin on his face, and George. Now she knew where the water had come from.
She’d assumed the two who ran off were Carson and Liam. She ground her teeth. “What the hell do you want?” she demanded.
Oliver never stood up for me like this when he was with me. What makes that bitch so special?
While the three of them faced off, Carson, Liam, and Emily were busy burying the dug-up eggs in the sunniest corner of Stella’s camp.
They buried them fast and got out without a trace.
Layla caught the movement in her peripheral vision-Emily and the others disappearing into the dark.
She turned back to Stella, her tone dripping with mockery. “This was just a little reminder. If you want to run to the production team, go right ahead.”
Then she turned and walked off, George and Oliver flanking her.
Stella stomped her foot, seething, but she didn’t dare chase them. She couldn’t take Layla, George, or Oliver in a fight. All she could do was stand there, glaring daggers at their backs.
Everyone regrouped at Layla’s cabin.
George looked thoroughly pleased with himself. “Tell me my water skills aren’t awesome. Took a few hits and their whole place was toast.”
Emily’s face was serious. She frowned and warned, “Don’t get too cocky. Stella won’t let this slide. And those pirates are coming soon. We need to be ready. The production team’s definitely gonna investigate when they see Stella’s cabin destroyed.”
