Chapter 322 Royal Pressure

Oliver drew a deep breath, smoothing down the front of his jacket as he composed himself. All traces of worry vanished from his face, replaced by an air of studied calm.

He winked at Layla. “You know everything I do is for you, Layla.”

A knowing smile touched her lips. She gave him an encouraging nod and a wave. “Go get ’em, Prince Cliver

Her words, simple as they were, sent a fresh wave of courage through him.

Alright. Worst case, I get a nip. But with Layla cheering me on, it’s worth it.

Steeling his nerves, he took step after measured step toward the hyena den.

The closer he got, the thicker the air became, saturated with the pungent, musky stench of the pack.

A chorus of low, guttural growls rose around him-a clear warning from the animals.

From their position behind him, both Layla and Carson kept their eyes locked on his retreating figure.

Layla’s expression remained calm, even confident.

She knew the power of his royal lineage was more than enough to subdue these creatures.

Nearby, the Vanguards captured every moment. The live chat scrolled frantically.

[Prince Oliver looks like he’s about to cry! He’s putting on a brave face for Layla, though. How adorable is that!]

[Did you see him fuss with his jacket? Gotta keep up appearances no matter what, huh?]

[But isn’t Layla pushing it? He’s clearly terrified, and she sent him in alone against the whole pack!]

[Don’t sell Prince Oliver short. Like Layla said, he’s got royal blood, remember?]

Just then, a massive hyena burst from the den. It charged straight for Oliver, jagged teeth gleaming with predatory intent.

Oliver’s instinct was to bolt. But the thought of Layla watching his back and the Vanguard cameras recording his every move rooted him to the spot.

I can’t look like a coward. Not in front of everyone!

He forced himself to stand his ground, glaring defiantly at the oncoming beast.

As danger closed in, a primal power instinctively surged from within him-the innate pressure of his royal heritage. An invisible force rippled outward.

The charging hyena seemed to slam into an unseen wall. It halted mid-lunge, crashing to the dirt with a thud.

Its tail tucked tightly between its legs, the whole body began to tremble violently.

The fury in its eyes melted into pure, abject terror, its menacing snarls shrinking to pitiful whimpers.

More hyenas emerged from the den.

None showed any sign of attack. Instead, they flattened themselves against the ground, trembling in silent submission, not even daring to lift their heads.

The overwhelming might of the royal lineage was on full display.

A spark of triumph lit up Oliver’s eyes, washing away every last drop of fear.

He lifted his chin, adopting a haughty, condescending pose. “How dare a bunch of mangy mutts try anything with me?”

Exchanging a glance, Layla and Carson both smiled.

Layla walked over and gave Oliver a light pat on the back.

“Not bad at all. Prince Oliver, you came through, just like I thought you would.”

If Oliver had a tail, it would have been wagging furiously.

But facing Layla, he managed to maintain a semblance of modesty. “All in a day’s work. I am a prince, after all,” he said with a shrug.

Carson approached, his sharp gaze sweeping over the cowering pack.

His brow furrowed. “Something’s off with these hyenas.”

Kneeling, he examined the nearest animal.

Beyond the fear in its eyes, he detected a frantic urgency and a wild, barely-contained agitation.

Stranger still, a smear of dark, viscous fluid matted the fur on its chest, emitting a faint, unnatural odor.

Layla leaned in to see what Carson had noticed, and her expression immediately turned cold. “Someone drugged them.”

The concoction was likely designed to heighten their aggression.

While hyenas were naturally vindictive creatures, this drug would have stripped away their last shreds of caution. It drove the beasts, bereft of reason, to venture into human territory.

Oliver’s triumphant glow faded. “This was done on purpose, too?”

Layla gave a firm nod.

The three exchanged a look, the same unspoken name hanging in the air between them: Stella.

Layla said, turning to him, “Prince Oliver. Do me a favor. Head back to the program’s camp. In my luggage, you’ll find a pale violet potion I prepared earlier. Bring it here.”

As a crane shifter, Oliver could fly, making him the fastest option.

Sending Carson would take longer.

Besides, the production crew might give them trouble, but they wouldn’t dare refuse a direct request from a member of the royal family.

True to form, Oliver returned swiftly with the vial.

Layla’s concoction wasn’t a specific antidote for this particular poison.

Instead, it worked by precisely dispersing and diluting toxic agents within a living body.

Spotting the pack’s alpha among the subdued hyenas, Layla gestured for it to approach.
