"Your father suggested that we match them up.
"They'd be a power couple, and Lillian would have a reliable partner. More importantly, your father cares about Lillian and wants to find her a good husband.
"I promise my grandson will treat her well."
Brandon and Colin couldn't snap out of their shock. They just stared at Martin.
He had hidden this massive scheme so well.
Knowing it was too hard for the Mercer family to mend fences with Lillian on their own, he had immediately brought in outside help.
And what a move it was—promising Lillian's hand in marriage!
They knew the Winthrop family's eldest grandson. Their families grew up together, and they had played often as children.
Tristan Winthrop had always been a gentle, wealthy heir.
Perhaps a bit too soft in his methods.
But that was when he was young.
After years of experience abroad, he had probably changed.
"Is Tristan still single?" Colin asked.
Beatrice smiled. "Yes. He's been so busy with business abroad, he hasn't had time for dating.
"Don't you think he's a perfect match for Lillian in terms of background, looks, and intellect?"
Colin stayed quiet. He hadn't seen Tristan in years, so he couldn't say for sure.
How could anyone force a match under these circumstances?
Besides, Brandon had heard rumors that the main reason Sebastian divorced Bella was to win Lillian back.
Putting Leonard aside, Brandon felt Sebastian had a much better chance.
He had watched Lillian chase after Sebastian for years; he knew how deep those feelings ran.
More importantly, they shared a child.
A child was an unbreakable, lifelong bond.
How could a marriage alliance with Tristan possibly succeed against that?
