Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 1123

Just as Maeve was processing the shock, Hans sent back a rapid response.

Murray and his team had tracked down the thug who drugged Naomi. Before they could even begin the interrogation, the coward had wet himself in terror, spilling every dirty detail.

It was exactly as they suspected: Nancy had orchestrated the entire nightmare. She hadn't just ordered them to assault Naomi; she wanted her dead.

Whether it was sheer luck on Naomi's part or total incompetence from the hired thugs, Nancy's vicious plan had failed.

Still, Naomi had paid a heavy price, suffering injuries that took weeks of agonizing recovery.

Maeve's mind reeled. She could hardly fathom that her best friend had a one-night stand with her brother.

Not only had they slept together, but they had created a life in the process.

Without hesitating, Maeve dialed Titus Reed's number. The second he answered, she demanded, "Where were you on the night of February 27th?"

On the other end of the line, Titus sounded entirely unfazed.

"I don't remember."

Maeve's temper flared. "If you don't remember, think harder!"

After a long, drawn-out pause, Titus replied coolly, "I was in Aethelburg."

"And where are you right now?" Maeve snapped.

"Aethelburg."

Maeve wanted to scream. "I mean right now, at this exact second! Where are you?"

"Aethelburg."

Maeve was practically vibrating with rage at her brother's maddeningly vague answers.

"Didn't you go back to Gotham right after my wedding reception?"

Titus offered a brief, "Yeah."

"So why the hell are you back here now?" Maeve demanded.

"Aethelburg."

"Why are you in Aethelburg?!"

What she really wanted to ask was why he hadn't bothered to tell his own sister he was in town. Were they even family?

Then again, her brother had always operated on his own unpredictable wavelength. Questioning him was usually a waste of breath.

Finally, Titus elaborated, "Looking for someone."

To Naomi, this man was a total stranger.

But to Titus, the sight of Naomi instantly unlocked the hazy memories of that feverish night.

"It's you," he murmured, his gaze locking onto her.

Naomi looked frantically at Maeve. "Who is he?"

"My brother," Maeve stated flatly. She paused for effect. "And the father of your baby."

Naomi's jaw dropped. No words came out.

What kind of twisted reality was this?

Titus arched an arrogant brow, his dark eyes sweeping over Naomi. "You're pregnant?"

Naomi was still too stunned to form a coherent sentence. "Uh... I think so?"

"Look, Titus, about this—" Maeve began.

Titus closed the distance with long, purposeful strides. He clapped a heavy hand on Maeve's shoulder.

"Wait outside. I'm talking to her alone."
