Six o'clock rolled around, marking the end of the workday. Just as Hazel finished packing up her desk, Audrey and Evelyn cornered her.
Audrey held three passes in her hand, beaming with a smile so overtly treacherous it practically screamed conspiracy. As if afraid Hazel wouldn't see them, she waved the tickets in her face.
"Hazel, I already bought the passes. Let's hit the bathhouse together. The facilities at this new place are amazing. My treat—consider it an olive branch to fix things between us. I really misunderstood you before."
Hazel looked at them, finding the situation almost comical. Whatever scheme these two had cooked up was so painfully obvious. They were trying every trick in the book to ruin her, but they severely overestimated their own competence.
She leaned back in her chair, crossed her arms, and let her gaze drift between Audrey and Evelyn with an amused smirk.
"I only agreed to go with Evelyn. She didn't mention anything about you tagging along, Audrey. You know how tense things are between us. Did you honestly think I'd want to go to a bathhouse with you?"
Audrey's expression instantly froze. Her lips parted, ready to snap, but Evelyn quickly pressed a hand over hers. Stepping forward with a gentle smile and a soothing tone, she played the peacemaker.
"Hazel, we're all colleagues. There's no need to make things so hostile. Plus, it's on the way. The new bathhouse has incredible amenities, and Audrey was the one who offered to take us."
As Evelyn spoke, a cold gleam flashed in her eyes. She had successfully shifted all responsibility onto Audrey. Whatever happened tomorrow, her hands would be clean.
Hazel, of course, saw right through her. She raised an eyebrow. "Audrey offered to take us? What about you?"
Evelyn gave an embarrassed smile. "I felt bad turning her down. And I figured it'd be nice to relax. We've all been under so much stress lately."
Hazel nodded slowly, grabbed her purse, and stood up. "Alright, let's go."
