Better Late, But Never His Again novel Chapter 100

Hazel's body instantly locked up. She didn't dare breathe, cursing her own stupidity. She should have locked the damn door.

She genuinely hadn't expected Julian to come back tonight. She had let her guard down, completely underestimating him. Next time, locking the door would be her very first priority.

Just then, Julian moved closer, his nose practically brushing her hair. He inhaled her natural floral scent, a stark contrast to Evelyn's suffocating perfume.

It was crisp and intoxicating, like fresh spring blossoms. The moonlight spilling through the gap in the curtains fell on her bare arm, illuminating her radiant skin.

Julian's Adam's apple bobbed, his gaze turning predatory. He had just reined himself in with Evelyn, and now, a fiery tension burned inside him. Hazel's allure was simply too overwhelming; his body immediately hardened with need.

His hand began a slow ascent, tracing her shoulder through the thin fabric of her pajamas. The sheer heat radiating from her skin only pushed him further.

Married to Hazel for all these years, he always knew she possessed stunning curves. In the past, whenever he took her, he had been absolutely captivated by her body, entirely unable to pull himself away.

But she had one fatal flaw in bed: she was too boring. She always lay there rigid, often wincing in discomfort without a single sound of pleasure. Over time, her lack of passion killed the mood, and he eventually lost interest in touching her.

Now, though, things were different. It had been so long since he last had her, and the deprivation was driving him insane.

Time apart clearly did wonders for rekindling the spark. His hand slid higher, growing bolder by the second.

Hazel's eyes snapped open, glaring into the dark with sheer disgust.

He literally just crawled out of Evelyn's bed to come grope her. Swallowing the urge to vomit, Hazel pretended to shift uncomfortably in her sleep. She intentionally drove her elbow right into his ribs and aggressively kicked her legs out, shoving him toward the edge of the mattress.

Julian was violently shoved aside, groaning as he clutched his ribs.

Assuming he had woken her, he held his breath, only to find her eyes still shut, her breathing steady as she settled into a new position.

Relieved, he let out a soft sigh, his resolve crumbling. She had been through hell today. It was cruel to bother her now; he needed to let her rest.

The very first thing she did was spring out of bed and flip the deadbolt on the door. The sharp click echoed loudly in the quiet room, finally allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief. Then she moved to latch the windows tightly shut as well.

She was building a fortress to prevent his sudden, animalistic urges in the middle of the night. Even if he lost his mind, there was zero chance he was breaking in here.

Satisfied, Hazel slid back under the covers and let out a long breath. Checking the time, she realized she was mere hours away from breaking free from this nightmare forever.

When Hazel woke up the next morning, she assumed Julian had already left for work. To her utter shock, the moment she stepped out of the bedroom, she heard the distinct clatter of plates coming from the kitchen.

Peering over the stair railing, she watched in sheer disbelief as Julian walked out of the kitchen, carrying a plate of scrambled eggs.

Spotting her on the landing, he smiled warmly. "Morning. Come on down for breakfast."

Hazel stood frozen. Julian had actually cooked? It was simply unbelievable.
