She could be moved by any stranger who saved her, but never by him.
Jarred lowered his eyes, his face completely unreadable.
But his hands, hanging at his sides, slowly curled into tight fists.
His knuckles cracked.
He said nothing, his expression dark. "Let's go."
With that, he took the lead and strode into the gathering area.
The two team members exchanged a glance and hurried after him.
In the courtyard, Sienna was treating Caleb's wound.
"Tell me if it hurts," Sienna reminded him.
"It doesn't." Caleb gritted his teeth, glancing back at her with a small smile. "That captain just now... said you were married?"
"Yes," Sienna replied without looking up.
The moment she spoke, the light in the doorway dimmed.
Sienna caught the movement in her peripheral vision.
A dark figure stepped inside, carrying the damp chill of the rain.
She didn't stop her work, quickly finishing the bandage and patting Caleb on the shoulder. "All done."
Without another word, she turned and headed straight for the medical staff lounge.
The second she walked in, her wrist was seized with inescapable force, yanking her hard against a solid chest.
Sienna looked up, her gaze colliding with his pitch-black eyes.
He was drenched in his tactical gear, looking absolutely ragged.
Yet he radiated a freezing intensity, his scrutinizing glare making her feel inexplicably guilty.
If she had looked closely, she would have noticed his shoulders trembling slightly.
But she didn't.
"Jarred, let me go!"
Sienna struggled a couple of times, but couldn't break free.
"No."
Instead of backing away, his arm tightened, pinning her roughly against the door.
