By the end of her shift, Sienna's IV still wasn't finished.

The exhaustion of the past few days combined with the torment of a high fever finally took its toll, and she unknowingly drifted into a deep sleep, leaning back in the chair.

Yet, her brows remained tightly furrowed, radiating unease even in her dreams.

A nurse on duty came over to change the medication and called her name twice, but got no response.

Reaching out to feel her forehead, she found it still frighteningly hot. Panic immediately set in.

The hospital was completely overwhelmed with patients tonight. Stretched way too thin and terrified that Sienna might face complications while unconscious, the nurse hurried to find Jonathan.

"Mr. Coleman, Dr. Sloan is unconscious and won't wake up," the nurse whispered.

"The hallway cots are completely full tonight, and the ER just sent up three more fever patients. I'm the only one watching this section. I'm worried that if something happens to Dr. Sloan, I won't be able to catch it."

She hesitated for a moment, observing Jonathan's expression.

"Mr. Coleman, could we... maybe call her family to come over?"

Jonathan rushed to the infusion room. Seeing Sienna curled up alone in the chair, her face as pale as a ghost, he felt a surge of both heartache and anger.

He frowned and instructed the young nurse, "Call her husband!"

The nurse looked confused. "...I don't have his number."

Hearing this, Jonathan quickly grabbed a pen and paper, jotted down a string of numbers, and handed it to her.

The nurse took it, ran to the nurses' station, and dialed.

But after several attempts, no one picked up.

Jonathan had been standing by, watching, his frown deepening with every passing second.

The hospital's landlines were usually saved with a caller ID. Logically speaking, Jarred should already know who was calling.

Ignoring it repeatedly—could he really be this heartless?

Just as the call was about to automatically hang up, a deep male voice finally answered.
