They had long heard that Dr. Sloan married young, but none of them had ever seen her husband.

Especially during times like this when a family member should be present, he was nowhere to be found.

After finishing the briefing, Jonathan looked at her frail state and said gravely, "This cross-province rescue mission carries risks. The hospital mandates a family member's signature. Call him and ask him to come sign."

Jonathan didn't say Jarred's name directly, but Sienna knew exactly who he meant.

Her hand paused, a flash of resistance crossing her eyes.

"Can't I sign it myself?" she asked without looking up.

Jonathan shook his head. "Legally, you are not single. Your spouse must sign."

Knowing Sienna would hesitate, he added, "It's a team protocol. Medical personnel need a family member to sign the informed consent form. It's not a mere formality; if something happens, the organization needs to have answers for your family."

Sienna clenched her fists.

Seeing her internal struggle, Jonathan patted her shoulder. "Don't be stubborn. Give him a call, even if it's just to let him know."

With that, Jonathan took the two interns back to their stations.

Sienna was left alone in the infusion room.

She sat there for a long time.

Long enough for half the IV bag to empty, long enough for the sky outside to fade from slate blue to pitch black, and long enough for her fingers to turn icy cold.

Then, she picked up her phone and dialed that familiar number.

The phone rang twice before it was picked up. Jarred's voice came through the receiver, as freezing as winter ice. "What is it?"

Sienna gripped her phone tightly.

"I have a document here," she said softly. "I need your signature. When are you free? I can bring..."

Jarred didn't even wait for her to finish before rejecting her coldly. "I'm not."

Knowing he was about to hang up, Sienna quickly pressed on. "Jarred, this is really important to me. Tomorrow morning I'm..."

"Sienna, you've caused such a huge mess, yet you show zero remorse and just obsess over the divorce all day."
