Seeing Sienna stand up, Jonathan frowned. He quickly walked over, lowering his voice. "Have you discussed this with Jarred? Even if you two live separate lives, if anything happens to you, I won't be able to explain it to the Sterlings."
"They won't care," Sienna replied with a faint smile. "Everyone else in the department has families to support. I'm the most suitable candidate."
"But..."
Jonathan tried to argue, but Sienna cut him off. "It's decided. We have to gather and leave first thing tomorrow morning, and there's a lot to prepare."
Jonathan sighed and instructed, "Contact me immediately if anything happens. I'll figure out a way to transfer you back."
He handed the application form to Sienna and added, "If there's anyone you need to talk to, make sure to get all your affairs in order before you leave."
Sienna nodded. Thinking it over carefully, besides Owen, she really didn't have any attachments.
She called the hospital in Germany, contacted Quentin Peters, and finally gave Luna a heads-up.
By the time she finished, it was already evening.
A colleague had just dropped off some supplies. Sienna was about to stand up and grab them when a sudden wave of dizziness hit her.
"Dr. Sloan!"
A few colleagues jumped in fright and rushed over to help her up.
They asked in a panic, "Sienna, what's wrong? Are you overworked?"
"Why are you so pale? Where does it hurt?"
Sienna shook her head weakly. "I'm fine, just a little tired..."
One colleague reached out to feel her forehead, pulling her hand back the second they made contact. "Oh my god! You're burning up! You're running a high fever."
Hearing this, Sienna suddenly felt her head was too heavy to keep up.
The door was suddenly pushed open while Sienna sat with her head down, rubbing her temples.
She didn't look up, but recognized the footsteps immediately—it was her mentor.
