Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 59

Seeing Jarred, warm smiles bloomed on everyone's faces.

But the second their eyes landed on Sienna, whose hand was locked firmly in his grip, every smile instantly hardened into a scowl.

The older woman had been resting against the headboard. The moment she spotted Sienna, her cloudy eyes widened in sheer horror, as if she were looking at absolute filth.

Her voice pierced the air like a siren. "Who let her in here? Get out!"

Jarred kept his voice low. "Grandmother, please calm down. Sienna is here to apologize to you."

Helena, sitting by the bed, shot Sienna a glare dripping with undisguised revulsion.

Standing off to the side holding a glass of warm water, Celeste looked at Jarred as if she couldn't believe her ears.

The matriarch's chest heaved violently. She pointed a shaking finger at the door and shrieked at the room, "I don't need it! Throw her out! A shameless wretch like her doesn't deserve to step foot on Sterling property!"

Sienna stood perfectly straight, not even slightly bending her posture, a chilling, cynical smirk curling her lips.

"You think I wanted to come?" she scoffed. "If your grandson hadn't practically dragged me here, let alone apologize, I wouldn't even show up to read the eulogy at your funeral."

"You...!"

The older woman choked on her own breath, her face instantly flushing a violent, mottled purple.

Trembling, she pointed at Sienna, then blindly grabbed the white porcelain bowl from the nightstand and hurled it directly at her.

Sienna simply leaned to the side, letting the bowl graze her shoulder before it shattered against the wall behind her, sending porcelain shards flying everywhere.

"Get out! I never want to see your face again for the rest of my life!"

Sienna lazily brushed off the imaginary dust from her shoulder and turned to leave.

But before she could take a single step, Jarred seized her wrist again.

This time, the man wasn't aggressive. Instead, he leaned down slightly, dropping his usual high-and-mighty demeanor.
