Chapter 95 No Longer Innocent
Chapter 95 No Longer Innocent
Jared approached Natasha, who was fast asleep.
Suddenly, he bent and lifted Natasha from the bench, holding her in a classic princess carry.
‘A princess carry?’ thought the driver in the Rolls-Royce, utterly shocked.
He never would’ve guessed that his usually icy, aloof boss could pull off something as romantic as a princess/carry.
Still, the driver couldn’t help but worry about Natasha.
He wondered if Jared might suddenly get fed up and toss her out onto the street.
After all, he’d never seen Jared carry any other woman before.
Natasha was still fast asleep in his arms.
It was as if she’d found a warm place to rest.
Instinctively, she snuggled closer to Jared, burrowing into his embrace.
Watching her trust and rely on him so completely, Jared felt his heart soften.
It was a feeling he’d never experienced before.
It was a stirring that came from deep within him.
He could almost hear his heart hammering wildly in his chest.
Worried he might wake her, Jared didn’t carry Natasha into his Rolls-Royce.
Instead, he kept walking, holding her close in his arms.
The driver followed behind, driving the Rolls-Royce slowly after him.
Jared walked all the way to his mansion, which took more than two hours.
He never once loosened his grip on Natasha the whole way.
The driver kept trailing them in the Rolls-Royce.
Even while carrying a woman, Jared’s steps were steady and strong. The driver was seriously impressed.
If it had been him, he’d have been wiped out in no time.
Jared carried Natasha upstairs and placed her on the big bed in the master bedroom.
He took a warm towel and gently wiped the tears from her pretty face.
Then, he carefully removed Natasha’s outerwear and shoes, so she’d be more comfortable while sleeping.
Only then did he lie down on his side at the edge of her bed, resting his head on one hand.
He kept gazing at her, completely captivated.
His throat worked as he swallowed hard.
He felt like he could stare at her forever and never get tired of it….

In the middle of the night, Natasha found herself caught in another nightmare.
She dreamed that Sandra and Joelle had joined forces to force her onto Gordon’s bed.
No matter how desperately she screamed for help, they refused to let her escape.
“No…” Natasha cried out in her sleep, jolted awake from the nightmare.
Cold sweat was beading on her forehead.
She instinctively reached out for the bedside lamp.
She fumbled for it, but couldn’t find it.
Instead, her hand brushed against warm, bare skin.
“Ah!” Natasha gasped, startled.
“It’s me!” A familiar, magnetic male voice sounded.
Natasha was stunned.
‘Wait, that’s Jared? What is he doing in my bed?’ she thought, confused.

Before she could even react, Jared had pulled her into his arms.
“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked softly.
His embrace was warm and strong, and she felt an unexpected sense of safety in his arms.
Natasha nestled against his chest, her voice rough as she nodded. “Yeah… I dreamed about something awful.”
She guessed it was true what they said: what one worries about during the day shows up in one’s dreams at night. Her worries lately were all about how Gordon had nearly forced himself on her, and Sandra’s blatant favoritism toward Joelle, even when Joelle hurt her…
In her nightmare, those two things had gotten all mixed up together.
Jared soothingly patted her back. “It’s all over now. With me here, nobody can hurt you.”
His deep voice carried a steady, reassuring strength.
Natasha nearly fell asleep in his arms, feeling safe and warm.
But then, Natasha’s eyes flew open as if she suddenly realized something.
She thought, ‘No, I can’t let this happen.
‘How could I have actually fallen asleep in Jared’s arms?
‘More importantly, I’m in his bed.
‘When do I let my guard down this much?
‘How did I end up sharing a bed with a guy, and almost falling asleep, too? No way. We can’t do this!’
Natasha suddenly broke free from his embrace.
“Jared, can you go back to your own room?” she demanded, shooting him a sharp glare.
Jared raised an eyebrow. “Every room here is mine. Where exactly do you expect me to sleep?”
Natasha clenched her jaw in frustration.
She mentally kicked herself for forgetting she was in his house.
“Then I’ll leave,” she snapped.
With that, she tried to get out of bed.
But Jared caught her around the waist and pulled her back against him.
“It’s so late. Where are you planning to go?” he asked.
Natasha blushed, both embarrassed and annoyed. “I can’t share a bed with you.”
Jared laughed, a teasing glint in his eyes. “Come on, we’ve spent the night together. Isn’t it a little late to pretend we’re strangers?”
“Who spent the night with you?” Natasha retorted, her tone full of irritation. “That doesn’t even count. We didn’t sleep together…”
Jared tightened his grip around her waist, a wicked grin playing on his lips. “Come on, we’ve done all the things we shouldn’
t have. At this point, what’s so scandalous about sharing a bed?”
Natasha was stunned into silence.
The truth was, things between her and Jared were far from innocent.
She wasn’t even divorced yet.
But the reality was that they’d already crossed the line.
Jared lay down beside her, pulling her gently into his arms. “Just relax and sleep, alright?”
Natasha couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t right.
She started struggling in his arms, trying to break free.
She said, “Let me go. Stop holding me. You said you’d give me three days. I haven’t agreed to anything yet!”
Natasha argued back, determined to make her point.
‘Seriously, what does it mean for us to be in the same bed before the three days are even up? Does he think I’ve said yes or something?’ she grumbled inwardly, annoyed.
“See? I’m not making a move on you, just sleeping,” Jared murmured in her ear.

His arms were locked tight around her waist, and his legs hooked around hers.
She couldn’t even wiggle free.
His masculine scent was all around her, overwhelming and inescapable.
Natasha had never been held so close by a man before. This was a whole new level of intimacy for her.
Let alone in bed.
Not even her husband Percy had ever gotten this close.
Right now, if Natasha so much as shifted, she’d end up pressed against Jared’s rock-hard chest.
The heat coming off him was enough to make her blush and send her heart racing.
The position was way too intimate.
Natasha couldn’t help but squirm, her body moving on its own.
She struggled to break free from Jared, desperate to put some space between them.
Natasha said, “No… No… We can’t sleep in each other’s arms like this… It’s not right…”
To Natasha, only couples or people who were truly close would ever fall asleep tangled up like this.
But she and Jared obviously weren’t that kind of couple.
Natasha was restless in Jared’s arms, wriggling and unintentionally rubbing up against him.
Jared felt a rush of heat surge through his body, desire flaring up before he could stop it.
He was dangerously close to losing control.
Jared’s voice was husky, tinged with warning. “Natasha, stop squirming. I can’t promise nothing will happen if you keep this up.”
Natasha’s breath caught. “What are you saying. What else could happen?”
“You tell me,” Jared murmured, his tone teasing and low.
Jared gripped her waist, pulling her flush against him, making sure she could feel his desire for her.
Natasha’s mind went on high alert, warning bells ringing loud and clear.
She stiffened, not daring to move a single muscle.
‘He… He’s this turned on by me?’ Natasha thought, utterly shocked.
Jared leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips. “Bet you’re scared now, aren’t you?”
Even though Natasha didn’t want to admit it, she didn’t dare provoke him anymore.
The last thing she wanted was for him to force himself on her in the middle of the night!
“Sleep now,” Jared said, his tone gentle and coaxing.
Jared’s big hand circled her back, giving her a soft, comforting pat as he quietly reassured her.
