An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49 Party

Chapter 49 Party

Natasha tagged along with Dorothy as they hit up a few more shops, helping her hunt for the perfect dress. When Natasha realized her makeup was almost out, she casually picked up a few new items to bring home.

To her surprise, Percy was already home.

When he saw Natasha walk in with a bunch of shopping bags, he couldn’t help but frown.

“Your sister just got out of the hospital, and as her little sis, you don’t even bother to visit her at the Whittier family? You still have the mood to go shopping?” Percy said.

Natasha shot him a sharp look. “If you’re so eager to see her, just go yourself. Why drag me along? Or are you planning to use me as your excuse?”

“You!” Percy blurted out, clearly annoyed.

Percy was caught off guard by her words, his handsome face shifting through a mix of emotions.

Natasha just curled her lip in disdain.

She walked straight to her room without another word.

She honestly didn’t see any reason to visit Joelle.

Joelle even showed up at her office today and slapped her right across the face.

With that kind of strength, no one would believe she just got out of the hospital.

It was clear Percy was just too distressed for her.

Once Natasha got back to her room, she started unpacking all the shopping bags, putting everything away one by one. “Why did you buy so much stuff?” Percy suddenly appeared behind her, questioning her, sounding suspicious.

In his eyes, Natasha had always been frugal, never one to splurge on unnecessary things.

But tonight, she came home with her arms full of shopping bags, all filled with makeup, clothes, and fancy dresses.

That made him start to wonder if she was seeing someone behind his back.

“I’m not spending your money, so mind your own damn business,” Natasha said, her tone icy.

She thought, ‘Just because we’re married doesn’t mean we share our money.

‘I haven’t used a single penny of his since we got married.

‘I was just buying a few clothes and some makeup with my own paycheck. Does that really bother him?

‘Is he seriously freaking out over this?’

“Isn’t all your clothes just Joelle’s cast-offs? Since when did you need to spend your own money on clothes? Or did some guy buy these for you?” Percy snapped.

The emotions he’d been holding back finally burst out, and his gaze turned dark and intense as he stared at her.

Natasha couldn’t help but frown.

She thought it was just laughable and ironic.

“What are you even saying? In your eyes, am I only good enough for Joelle’s hand-me-downs? Do I not even have the right to buy my own clothes?” Natasha shot back.

Percy’s jaw tightened.

He clearly didn’t believe a word she said.

He gripped her pretty face hard. “Do I need to remind you again who you are? You’re still Mrs. Grosso. Don’t even think about fooling around with other guys!”

Natasha pulled a mocking smile. “Isn’t it you who’s always confused about your own status and messing around?”

A dark, dangerous fire flickered in Percy’s eyes.

His grip on her cheek tightened even more. “Go ahead, say it again if you dare.”

Natasha winced in pain, but still forced the words out through gritted teeth. “Don’t think I’m clueless about what you and Joelle have been up to…”

When Percy heard her mention Joelle, his hand

“When did you find out?” Percy’s voice was low and tense.

His handsome face darkened, a storm of emotions flickering across it.

His chest tightened with a mess of emotions.

There was anger, resentment, and even a touch of guilt.

Back then, he thought marrying Natasha would let him hide his feelings for Joelle for good, that she’d never catch on.

He never imagined she’d see through him so fast, just one year in, and she already knew.

“If you don’t want people to find out, maybe don’t do it at all,” Natasha sneered.

!

Her gaze turned cold as she stared him down. “We’ve been married for a year, and you haven’t even touched me, but every night you’re getting off to my sister’s photo. Did you really think I wouldn’t notice?”

Percy was stunned.

He never thought she’d actually find out.

His eyes suddenly went dark.

Percy tried to say something, maybe explain himself.

But Natasha didn’t even want to look at him anymore.

“Get out of my room!” she snapped.

The next day, Natasha met up with Dorothy’s cousin’s boyfriend, who was a lawyer.

Natasha asked him to help her draft a divorce agreement, and she wanted it as soon as possible.

Since she’d already confronted Percy last night, there was no reason to drag things out any longer.

Percy only cared about Joelle anyway.

So she’d let them have each other.

Time flew by, and soon it was time for the company’s celebration party.

Nearly all the executives were present, along with plenty of important business partners.

Under the dazzling crystal chandeliers, the room was filled with the scent of perfume and the rustle of elegant dresses.

Everyone was dressed to the nines.

But Natasha was the only one who showed up in a simple, pale-colored dress and barely any makeup, clearly just trying to keep a low profile.

“Natasha, why didn’t you wear that peacock-green dress tonight?” Dorothy asked.

Dorothy couldn’t help but question her, seeing how plain Natasha was dressed.

Every other woman at the party was all glammed up, heavy makeup, flashy dresses, everyone trying to outshine each other and snag a bigshot executive if they could.

But Natasha just didn’t even bother.

With her natural beauty, Dorothy thought she’d want to stand out, but she went for such a low-key style that she was totally going to get overshadowed by all those glam girls.

“It’s just a company party, not my birthday. Better to keep things low-key,” Natasha said calmly.

“But…” Dorothy started to say.

Just then, a tall and lean figure strode in through the entrance.

The man wore a perfectly tailored black suit that showed off his broad shoulders, defined chest, and long legs.

He radiated an aura of deep, unreachable allure, making him seem completely out of everyone’s league.

The instant he appeared, the party hall was filled with squeals and whispers from the women.

“Mr. Rundell is here!” someone exclaimed.

The men all scrambled to greet him, eager to butter him up.

Even from across the room, Jared’s gaze cut through the crowd and landed right on Natasha.

His deep, eyes were like an ancient well, impossible to read.

Dorothy nudged Natasha excitedly. “Natasha, Mr. Rundell is totally checking you out!”

Natasha just gave a helpless little smile. “Come on, you’re imagining things.”

Dorothy glanced back, but sure enough, Jared was no longer looking their way.

She felt a bit let down.

For a second there, she really thought Jared had his eye on Natasha.

!

“Oh, by the way, how did things go with my cousin’s boyfriend about your divorce?” Dorothy asked, unable to hold back her curiosity.

Natasha replied, “He agreed to help me draft the divorce agreement.”

Dorothy grinned, genuinely happy for her. “It’s about time you finally let go of that jerk Percy and started fresh.”

Natasha took a deep breath. “I should have come to my senses sooner.”

She’d been so naive before, thinking that if Percy was even a little nice to her, it meant he actually liked her.

She never realized his real goal was just to use her as a way to get close to the true Whittier heiress, Joelle.

She’d spent her whole life craving affection, never really feeling safe or wanted.

That was why she ended up mistaking any scrap of kindness Percy tossed her way as love.

She would never make that mistake again.

Just as Natasha was deep in thought, Dorothy gave her arm a quick squeeze. “Natasha, Mr. Rundell is actually heading your way!”

Natasha glanced over, puzzled.

And sure enough, Jared was making his way toward her, moving with calm, elegant steps, bathed in shards of golden light from the chandeliers.
