Chapter 232 Get a Divorce
Chapter 232 Get a Divorce
Jared hesitated for a moment, then offered, “Alright, I’ll take you there.” Natasha quickly shook her head. “No, I can go by myself.”
Jared looked at her intently. “Didn’t you say it was urgent?”
He couldn’t shake the feeling that she was deliberately avoiding him.
Natasha hesitated. “I…”
In the end, she could only agree and let Jared drive her to Whittier Manor.
On the way, Natasha sat by the window, ignoring Jared for most of the ride.
Her mind kept replaying the phone call between Jared and his mother until the car reached the entrance of the Whittier Manor.
“We’re here. Bye.”
Natasha quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and said goodbye to Jared.
“Should I go with you?” Jared suddenly asked.
Natasha paused, turning to him with a look of surprise.
‘Wait, is he actually planning to go into Whittier Manor with me?’ she thought.
‘What role is he supposed to play now?’ Nat wondered. ‘Boss? Friends with benefits?’
Neither seemed plausible.
“No, it’s fine,” Natasha said, not missing a beat.
She shot him down without a second thought.
They were nowhere near the stage where he’d be meeting her parents.
With that, she got out of the car and headed inside.
Jared watched Natasha walk away, his gaze dark and unreadable.
He could tell something was weighing on her.
She was totally fine just last night.
But that day, she suddenly seemed really preoccupied.
‘What could’ve happened to make her like this?’ Jared wondered.

“Nat!”
Before Natasha could even step into the manor, Collin called out to her.
“Collin?”
Natasha watched in a daze as he walked over to her.
“Was that Mr. Rundell who just dropped you off?” Collin asked. His eyes brightened.
He’d spotted Jared’s private car from a distance.
“Yeah,” Natasha replied with a faint nod.
Collin was practically bouncing with excitement as he leaned in, itching to know, “So, how far have you and Mr. Rundell gotten?”
Nat played dumb, acting like she had no clue what he meant.
“What are you talking about? He’s my boss, I’m his employee,” she said, brushing him off.
Collin’s face fell. “That’s it?”
Natasha shot him a look, raising her eyebrow. “Seriously? What else do you want me to do?”
“Come on!” Collin was about to lose it.
He was practically tearing his hair out.

Even if she’d already hooked up with Jared, that wasn’t what Collin really wanted.
What he really wanted was for her to use Jared’s resources, cash, and connections to help him and the Whittier family.
And that was the last thing she wanted to do.
She’d never let anyone in the Whittier family know about her friends-with-benefits arrangement with Jared.
Natasha shot him a look. “If you think it’s such a waste, why don’t you go after him yourself?”
Collin was left speechless by her comeback. “I…”
If he were a gorgeous, hot-bodied woman like her, he’d have been all over Jared.
He wouldn’t need to count on her for this.
Natasha stepped into the manor and asked the staff where her mom, Sandra, was.
She made her way to the north wing, where she and Sandra used to stay, but instead of her mom, she bumped into her dad,
Bernard.
Bernard froze for a second, clearly surprised to see her back that day.
Natasha’s relationship with the rest of the Whittier family had been broken for a long time, and she didn’t even bother to say a word to him.
Bernard looked her over and took the initiative to speak. “Well, at least you still have some decency, coming back to visit your mom.”
Natasha glanced at her father, a cold, mocking smile on her lips. “You should be saying that to yourself.”
After all, she and her mom had lived at Whittier Manor for years, and her dad rarely set foot in the north wing to see either
of them.
She was honestly surprised to see him there that day.
Bernard’s expression froze for a moment.
He should’ve known his daughter would say something disrespectful.
But he still hadn’t expected her to come out swinging, her words so sharp they made his stomach turn.
Bernard gave a heavy cough, clearly annoyed. “Watch your tone with your elders. Didn’t your mom ever teach you any manners?”
Natasha retorted, “I only show respect to people who actually deserve it.”
Basically, she was saying her dad didn’t deserve her respect.
“You!” Bernard was fuming, barely able to spit out the word.
She really got under his skin.
But honestly, he knew exactly how Natasha was as a person.
He wasn’t even surprised anymore.
“Since you were big enough to help Roxanne out and save her reputation last time, I’ll let it go,” Bernard said, swallowing his frustration.
Natasha kept a cold expression. “Don’t expect me to thank you for that.”
Bernard was about to lose his cool again.
He forced himself to calm down, taking a deep breath.
He cut to the chase. “I came here to talk to your mom and get you to join Whittier Group. But since you’re here, I’ll tell you straight.”
Natasha kept her tone cool. “I’m pretty sure I’ve already said no to this before.”
She couldn’t care less about her family’s company anymore.
Bernard’s expression turned grim. “To be honest, Whittier Group’s in pretty bad shape right now. Ever since Joelle broke up, she’s either disappeared or gone completely off the rails, and your brother? He’s a total…”
“That’s not my problem.” Natasha cut him off.
If her dad had brought her into Whittier Group from the very beginning, she would’ve stepped up to help, no questions asked.

But back then, he bought into Roxanne’s badmouthing, afraid she’d mess things up for Joelle and Collin, and went out his way to block her from joining Whittier Group.
But with Whittier Group in disarray, he suddenly remembered her.
She’d already given up on the Whittier family, and she didn’t feel like it was her job to bail them out.
Bernard frowned. “Don’t forget, you’re a Whittier. You’ve got Whittier blood in you, and that’ll never change.”
Natasha let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“Dad, ask yourself honestly. From the day I was born until now, have you ever, even once, treated me like I was really your daughter? Have you ever admitted I was truly your own flesh and blood?”
Growing up, her dad only ever had eyes for Joelle and Collin. Natasha was never even on his radar.
If Whittier Group hadn’t gotten into trouble and desperately needed help, he wouldn’t have even thought of her.
Bernard was left speechless by her words.
Natasha had no interest in getting dragged into another pointless showdown with her dad.
The only reason she showed up at Whittier Manor was to have an excuse to dodge Jared for a while.
‘Time to get out of here.’
But just as she turned to leave, Bernard called out from behind her, “If you’re willing to come back to Whittier Group and help out, I’ll publicly recognize you and your mom as true members of the family!”
This was the highest condition he could offer.
All this time, Sandra and Natasha had been living at Whittier Manor without any real status or recognition.
They were treated like the Whittier family’s hidden shame, kept in the shadows and never truly acknowledged.
They never had any legitimate status in the family.
But at that moment, Bernard was finally willing to recognize them as part of the family.
He believed she’d be thankful for that.
Natasha paused, turning back with a cold, mocking smile. “Publicly acknowledge my mom and me? You really think that’s some huge favor?”
Bernard never expected that after finally backing down, he’d just get brushed off by his daughter.
“What is it you really want?” he asked, his tone serious.
Natasha looked him straight in the eye. “If you truly want to recognize my mom and me, then you should go ahead and divorce Roxanne!”
As soon as she said that, Bernard snatched up a wine glass and hurled it at her.
